its not similar to ballet skiing

ballet skiing requires u to hav 210 and spin around with one ski behind ur neck and the other on the ground, only slighlty more dangerous than butters

Non-newschoolers are just salty because in their hearts they all know that newschool saved skiing but they don't want to admit it, so instead they make idiotic comments trying to belittle the movement when in fact they know nothing about it.

i don't really think it was taken from ballet but it definitely was taken from snowboarders. i say we bring ballet back but slide it into the newschool cuz some of the tricks were pretty dope like tip rolls and....thats really the only cool one i know. a tiproll to rail would be tight, like tip roll 270. don't know if it can be done.

Never seen ballet skiing, can't say if i ever will... Truth is Butters are fun and stylish if done right, so who cares where it comes from (though i would have to lean the snowboard origin way, to young to know any better).

 
Mike Douglas did write that article, but im not sure if calling it 'the bastard child of ballet skiing' was his idea or not. If it was, then Mike you're turning into a tool.

yah... butters are more like the bastard child of skiiers ripping off snowboard style. but im a big fan of them neways, as long as there is a spin thrown like immediately afterwards, or onto a rail.

Newschool saved skiing? Are you fucking kidding me? I would still be skiing and having fun on the hill regardless whether or not there were terrain parks, as would the majority of Americans.

it saved skiing as in all the new kids to the mountains, and lots of the people already on the mountains, wanted to snowboard. 10 years ago, skiing wasnt cool, except for the racers, but only in their circles. freestyle skiing or whatever the 'correct' term for it saved skiing by making kids want to ski again.

Little kids will typically always follow trends. If there was no 'extreme' skiing to show these kids, they'd all be on snowboards. The next generation at my hill is all on snowbards. Core groups can USUALLY only support core ski companies, and if freestyle never came along the big boys would all be making snowboards (like most of them are already) or going out of business.
