Busted some Salomon Strives today

This will make the STH series fans laugh, and probably get a few "told ya so's", but Strives are a tad fragile I found out today. Mid turn, the little S logo cap of the top snaps off as well as some of the other shitty plastic pieces below it, setting of a goofy release that caught me way off guard. Luckily not something that totally destroyed the binding (or me), and can probably honestly just epoxy it back in place and be just fine. Still, for something rumored to fill the shoes of the STH, this is pretty disappointing Salomon...

Anyone else having problems with these durability wise? They're awesome in pretty much every other way, but I don't need them making themselves lighter on their own.

Is it just a cosmetic piece or?

seems like it might be, but there was definitely a bit of plastic that interfaced with the boot that disappeared in that mess. Also lets a ton of snow/water get into the toe DIN system, so I guess i'll see if that screws anything up. I did ski on em for a few hours afterwards and didn't feel any different.

Strive 16 has toe heigh screw where that cap is located. That damage is only cosmetic and should be fine. I'd reach out to the shop you got them from and see if they can warranty you a replacement

Awesome thats great news. Appreciate it man

I just bought a pair of STH 16s for a new setup this week since I want to give the Strive a bit of a public time before I decide if I want to get on it or not. I remember when the Shift came out and everyone was raving about how it was gonna be the best thing since sliced bread and then had a bunch of issues. Duke PT seems to be a quietly very good 50/50 binding though.

It does sound like the STH is not being replaced though

Thats good news. I will add that I got that price replaced and seems like it was defective from the start, not some skiing damage. Overall I've been super impressed by the strives.

those toe pieces remind me of those old transformers toys. are we sure your binding didn't try to morph?
