Business card critique

so i'm moving/starting school soon, figured i should get on making some business cards for myself to hand out to business around the area. this is my first draft/first thing i came up with. any feedback/advice/suggestions you have for anything including the back of the card (what's pictured is the front) is greatly appreciated!

Not sure about it, get a print of it and you'll see it's totally different to a pc graphic
 
for those of you saying it needs more text...this is the front, business cards are two sided. the front generally is short and sweet with a name/brand and logo, which is what i have. i suppose i can list my website on the front when i finish it. the back is primarily where i will list my info, i was asking for critique on this piece (the front) only. think of it as the front of a card you will flip over to see the rest of the info, then go from there.
 
Post both sides of the card. That looks great, but you have no idea how it would look overall.
 
I honestly feel that the "g" of "Spring" gets in the way of "VISUALS", making it harder to read. If you maybe move the "VISUALS" down and spread it across, the whole way underneath "Matthew Spring" it would look better. Just a suggestion.
 
KZA and HWW thank you both! the back actually isn't done, there wasn't even a back made yet at the time i posted this haha. and as for the character spacing i will give it a try! i feel like i did already and didn't like the outcome but i'll get on it and post it up here, thank you both again!

To me the most important aspect of a business card for me is not the graphic, everyone and their aunt can pre-select one on a website that looks awesome as tits.

I prefer to keep things übersimple and overwhelm them with the classiness of really expensive hand scooped paper (handgeschept in Dutch no idea how to translate that) or plastic/metal.

It looks neat but it undermines the entire purpose of a business card. The info you've supplied it less than what can be found by Googling your name...

Business cards should be simple, have multiple outlets for contact info, and be able to be written on (not likely with a photofinish).
 
I didn't read the last three posts because I got lazy but I really liked the simple card look like the first and second draft, second most because visuals was spread out and looked less cramped under your name. The last one you had there turned me off a bit, like it tried to stay simple but it wasn't with the website, I would prefer to see the website on the back with all of your other info, it's cleaner and more consistent that way. It's a great looking card though, I hope the back is as sharp as the front.
 
And because I was curious I read the rest, and now I'm a wee bit more turned off. Keep the back plain, don't do the planet crap, put your name, number, email, website, and specialties on the back. One side of graphics is enough. I'd be annoyed if I wanted your work and had to contact you through your website rather than just looking at the card and emailing or calling you. If you did that you'd have a pretty solid card. Info is a must though.
 
i appreciate/agree with the feedback on the planet, and the website placement as well, i'll change all that. as for the lack of info can you guys please read what i type lol i said i wasn't there yet these were just design critiques not info and all that. that being said anyone have any ideas for info layout on the back when i take out the planet?
 
i hope you aren't claiming i pre selected this business card layout because i literally made everything from the ground up. the only time i used external images was for the actual earth continents and bumpmap, but i do agree with you on everything else. i also didn't plan on printing on glossy, and i know exactly what kind of paper you are talking about
 
You want it simple and to the point.

Loose all the fancy shit.

Name

company name

phone

email

website, facebook, twitter, etc...

logo and quick blurb at the most.

Also make it one sided. No one looks at the back of a card, and it should be left blank for notes if needed by another person

 
Change the typeface...imo.

Lose Earth. Planets don't give the right impression of what you do.

Space is cool, but is it hirable...? (Everyone can make space backgrounds)

Try to think of a simple way to visually communicate what you do.

 
It looks a lot like you're trying to copy apples desktop.

I'm not a fan of the typeface with the gradient and try it not centered. You can do a better job than this.
