bush is an idiot. i cant believe that whoever started this thread was even serious. no child left behind mandates taht if your school fails thier tests 3 years in a row, yopu start losing funding. that will only make the problem worse! by 2014, we are supposed to have 95% proficiency. that means 95% of the people in my scholl have to pass reading, math, and comprehension tests. there will always be people who just dont get it, and that is fine. the idiots in our government cant seem to remember when they were in school. grrrrrrrrrrrrr. i am so pissed off by this

did you read the topic of the thread dude? it wasnt weather or not hes a grand success domestically. it had to do with the fact that democracy is indeed taking root rapidly in the middle east. the very thing that has always been cited as the key foreign policy objective of his administration. and the fact that, like i said in my original post, traditionally hostile media outlets cant even deny whats going on in the middle east now.

So your theory, then, is that because countries have democratized since the invasion of Iraq, that the invasion must therefore have been the cause? Just trying to get this straight here. Also, note that democratic reforms or no, the new regime in Beirut will largely be controlled by Damascus.

Oh, and keep in mind that the thread title is a bit ridiculous, because he didn't know what he was doing even if the entire Earth suddenly turns into one big pro-American democracy... remember that fostering democracy was not the reason for this war.

Lets also not forget that Countries suddenly leaning towards democracy in fear if American pressure doesnt necisarrily make it the right think. Not all plaves in the world are ripe for a democracy.

the entire reason for the upheaval in lebanon had to do with syrian meddling. the current government that is, largley a puppet of damascus, has resigned. along witht that, syria has said that they will withdraw the remainder of their military that has been in lebanon for the last 15 years or so. so to say that it will still be a syrian puppet state might be inaccurate.

as for the original post, it was simply meant to say that bush is having success in the biggest part of his admins foreign policy. did he know that it would happen? probalby not, but that was the aim, and its happening.

There is some good happening from all this affair. But Bush did not know what he was doing.

You could compare it to some idiot who bounces his bowling ball on the couch to see how high it bounces. The ball bounces into the TV, smashing to the screen, only to find that there was a million dollars hidden in the TV.

Bush's actions has caused some good fortune. But he definately didn't intend for this. He's just along for the ride.

Band-waggoning is hilarious. Did anyone notice that threads posted a few months ago or longer had everyone except a select few Bush hating? Now that Bush is getting some positive results, people are migrating more and more to the Pro-Bush side. Well I'll be 'unique'... That's probably the stupidest idea I've ever heard. There is certain percentage of people who are too lazy and stupid to pass and should therefore FAIL. So if you force schools to have less than a 5% failure rate then they will just pass people who should be failing in order to maintain funding.

1.our AP bio teacher, who may be the best in the state (50% of students get 5's on the state exams) and is about to retire (hes upwards of 60) was notified that he wasn't a qualified teacher because he didnt take some course on geology in college. the guy teaches biology for christs sake,not rock science.

2. easily 5% of the kids at my school are either retarded, amotivational, or just plain stupid. this is a problem.

3. bush's wars have been 'on terror.' terrorism has nothing to do with democracy.

yuck, you'll be known as the pussy from this day on if you do that. Do something manly, like cut her initials into your chest or something.

I talk to my dad as much as possible and he is in Iraq right now, in a good part of Iraq. They still get attacked everyday with all kinds of shit, he is a very humble person to talk to now it has really opened his eyes no he isn't happy for being over there he depressed, he has been giving them money to go buy clothes because he can't see the people like that.

^Er... I think he was saying that creating a democracy is not a strong justification for waging war on another country, which is an understandable opinion, if that's what he's saying. Also, note that both France and the USA did it themselves. Hard to locate a successful democracy that had its democratic government installed by a hegemonic power.
