bush called for enormous expenditures to placed on maintaining the sanctity of marriage. why? because a pristine nuclear family is the base for american society. without solid families backing america the country should fall apart right? in today's world of serial monogamy and obsessive compulsive divorce, children grow up in single parent families, or they migrate between homes week after week. these are families that are 'not normal' and as children they will not successfully learn how to create normal families when they grow up and attempt themselves. will the process of marriage and then divorce become the standard? marriage in america is a matter of national security. with the massive amount of divorce everyday (now reaching 75%), the amount of lawsuits and fighting over ownership of property is negatively affecting the american economy. does bush have right to be terrified of this? or is he paranoid?

I am an extreme liberal, I am also a child of a devorced marrage. I am EXTREMLY AGENST DEVORCE, however not becuase it is teaching me shitty values or any of that shit that Bush said. (well mabey a little...) mostly it is jst that my mom, realized that there were better 'more interesting people' than my dad... they are also liberal (my parnets) and they arn;t stupid, just crappy when it comes to this issue

i don't think gay couples should adopt children either. and i would consider myself pretty pro-gay, so i guess that's contradictory of me. i gay couples adopting children will help to increase tolerance for that generation though.

all of you people that oppose gay marriage have two problems.

1. you aren't realizing that homosexuality is part of not only our culture but our species. you only view it as something unworthy of the right to have children because, you think that it isn't acceptable - like it is something wrong. HOMOSEXUALITY IS HERE TO STAY. PERIOD. and because of that you must realize that you have to accept it and allow homosexuals to have children. in america all people created equal means all people are created equal. you are using the same rational that powerful white men used agains blacks and women to restrict them from voting. try and tell me that its not the same thing.

2. children brought up in homosexual families will not be messed up. they will face the same discrimination that all minorites deal with. that may be a burden but everyone faces discrimination of some sort at some time. for the children of homosexual marriages, they will understand their homelife as not only acceptable but normal.

why are all of you so afraid to admit that there are things about our species that we are still discovering. open your god damn eyes. look at history, its only going to be a matter of time until gay marriage is accepted in all states, as well as gay adoption. look at the past. both blacks and women have the same rights that white men do. this is only going to take time. homosexuality only really exploded into society in the sixties.

divorce sucks. my parents are divorced. my mom's been divorced twice and now she hates men. and no she's not a lesbian. but fuckin eh growing up without two parents won't ruin my life. i think that going through shit like this makes you stronger in the end. i think i'm perfectly normal, it hasn't permanently fucked me up.

Hey, we had several gay or lesbian people at my high school, and not only did no one make fun of them, they respected them for being open about it. And in fact, the few people who WERE assholes about it were (and still are) looked down upon by the vast majority of the people who went there. Now, my university has a huge gay population and pride organizations and events, so I guess it's not surprising that there's no discrimination. It also might have to do with the fact that people in university TEND to be intelligent, open-minded people, not backward fuckwads bent on running the lives of people who have nothing to do with them because they're afraid of variety. I hope there aren't any of the latter on here... By the way, SUpilot, you're now leading the way with 2 entries in the hall of fame (below me). Congratulations!

and yes foster care is a better option for kids than growing up with gay parents because then they can make a decision later about who they want to be with. i personally would rather be in foster care then to have gay parents while growing up. perhaps it would be different once your older because people are wiser and more tolerant than in the adolescent stage.

oh ya, i'm sure being moved from house to house with no real sense of family or a real homlife wouldn't screw the kid up at all. I mean hey, it's not like kids really need to feel at home at all, or feel like they have a real family, as long as there are two straight people taking care of them, who could be abusive alcolholics, they'll be fine.

SU.....by the time most of these kids get old enough to go to school gay people will be more accepted than they are now. and little 6 year olds don't know the first thing about being gay anyway. i think it should be legal, but the adopting parents should be aware enough to live in a place where gay people are broadly accepted, like SF, instead of, say, bible belt oklahoma, to avoid the situations you speak of

well unless all of society is ready for it then i dont think its a viable option. even SF is not tolerant...thats why they are fighting the gay marriages and say the certificates issued are purely counterfeit. my parents had foster kids growing up and it does suck bouncing around i'm sure, but i think more pyschological repercussions would stem from seeing your dads unload in each other.

plus i'm sure that the couple who adopded the kid wouldn't do it right in front of the kid. and the screening proccess for adoption is alot more extensive than for forster care, so there's a way better chance that the gay couple who adopted the kid would be better parents than the foster family.
