You know what the problem with democrats is? (Someone is gonna kick me in the nuts for this) They're living in the past, over the past 30 years America has developed into the dominant global power and American policy effects people everywhere. Back in the day we never would have worried about Iraq developing NBC weapons, 'cause it wouldnt have affected us. But now, terrorists could do ANYTHING if the really wanted to and thats a scary concept. So we need to get rid of terrorists and the countries that allow them to reside there. anyway the post that I had put all that work into said basically that I was going to say the exact same thing Svhucker said. also that there was an interview with some educated Iraqies and they said that they hated Sadam but they also hated they way the US is treeting them. they said that all the us is doing is hurting the inocent civialians of Iraq and if it is not something directly be to only sadam that it should not be done.

yeah we're talking about international politics here not 'how far I've got in the ski industry'. Also alot of you really need to expand your horizons read or experience a little more about globalization and the ability to define a 'sustainable economy' because what your saying is preschool. 'Bush is the man', I know you want to be patriotic or whatever but the fact remains if the west does not change the Earth is done by the time our children turn 35. Also 'terrorism' is bullshit. Look at what the CIA has done and tell me who the terrorists are. We are economic fundamentalists whereas the middle eastern system is Islamic fundamentalism. They drop bombs indiscretely this could be interpreted as either, A) they're fucking dumb or b) they don't give a fuck.or c) they're attention seeking .We on the other hand go into countries and fund military coups which override democracy. Nicaragua for example. Right before the whole Contra thing the right wing had only 3.5 % of the vote (election stat) yet the U.S. backed the right to defeat the 'commies' a government for much needed healthcare, education and land reform. You don't need to agree with me on this because this has nothing to do with my opinion, this is how it is so don't bother arguing about it.

 
I would like to know what this 'better' solution is. Its up to the government to decide? The government is a representation of the people, so in effect it is up to the people to decide. Please do tell me, what is the better solution. That is about the worst thing to think, no matter where you stand on the political scale- 'just let the government figure it out.'

This may be slightly off topic, but if for those of you that think Bush is a moron, take a look at Cretien. (Canadas PM in case you werent aware.) At least Bush has the interest of his country in mind. Now this may seem bad, to say, as this idealism might not neccasarily take into account what happens to other nations in his (the USs) quest for betterment. In the end the US has the power to make the rest of the world listen, and I for one am glad that the US is the country that is doing this (this is a whole new topic, however.) However, Cretien is more concerned with how the rest of the world feels about him, and Canada, and not how Canadians feel about Canada (eg Kyoto). This inturn has given Canada a reputation for being weak, and spineless. Now we might be a good country globally, but economically we keep getting weaker. When we open our mouths, we might have good things to say, that basically is more or less along the same idealogical path as the USs, but no one listens.

I for one am proud to be a Canadian but I would take Bush over Cretien anyday.

exactly sweetcoz, kayoto is best for the world not just canada. If the bush propaganda machine was suporting kayoto 90% of americans would understand how important it is. but no there are american adds put out by the oil companys saying 'the air is actuly cleaner now than ever' just read the fine print at the top of your TV and you will see what a blatent lie that is.

 
I like what Kamikaze said in an earlier thread. About the US barging in on another country's affairs. America seems to have taken on the role of an international police force. Other countries have the right to have differences and even conflicts with one another. Having the US jumping all over the place like this is pretty bloody stupid. One day it will all come crashing down. Just wait until China gets pissed, then there'll be some real trouble. And Korea, I think the US has a whole shit load more to worry about that little old Iraq.
