This election is one of the scariest in a long time. And no, its not just because Bush could possibly get another term.

Its because: we are on a threshold, we are reinventing our national identity; we are dealing with very complicated issues at home and abroad - setting precedents with each descision; world powers are on the brink of dramatic shift; the fate of the middle east is up in the air; internaional awarenes of terrorism has skyrocketed and adequately dealing with its newfound prevalance in policy making is a problem; partisan politics are perverting democracy much in the way they did during the presidencies of Adams and Jefferson; the army's volunteer population is dwindling; concern over the environment is rising; social security and health care need drastic reform; the national principle of Federalism is being assaulted; yea, well, I'm nervous.

This election is so far from being about Bush or Kerry its rediculous, but the amount of people aware of that is so small its even more frightening.

He won Indiana, not Illinois. If he had won Illinois that would have been huge. Kerry is expected to take Illinois mostly b/c Chicago is in Illinois and there are lots of black people.

after the electoral college vote in december i think. we'll have a pretty good idea when all the polls close.

well they may be saying so and so got this state but remember this is based on exit polls not precints reporting probably only 5-10% of the precincts are reporting remember 4 years ago when they said gore won florida and he really didnt gore was celebrating his victory before it was true... not to take anything away but 90% of the information they are spewing at you is from exit polling not actual votes being counted look for the percent of precints reporting to get a real idea

Florida doesn't look close because certain precincts are often slanted democratic or republican. Since they count the precincts one at a time, intermediate results may be inaccurate. For example, when i posted the link for Ohio above 10 min ago, kerry had a 10 point lead. Now it is 2 points.

I agree its just going to be a 269 tie in electoral votes and in that course the U.S. will spew out a monster known as Bush/Edwards which hasn't happened since Jefferson/Adams. So our country will continue to be corrupt.

Still no surprises. I don't understand how they can 'Call' missouri for bush when 15% of the precincts are reporting and Bush is up 52-48... seems to me that could change easily...
