I'm sorry my friend, but this is a religious war...a jihad, the fighting is going on because the two races hate each other for being on their respective 'Holy/Promised Lands'. There is no way to stop a Holy war between two of the most solidly founded religions in the world. The Israelis would certainly not cease to assasinate Palestinian leaders because they loathe the existence of the Palestinians being on their supposed Holy Land. The Palestinians are the same way, and I am referring to the extremist Islamic Palestinians, are not going to cease bombing Israelis because they are on the Palestinians Holy Land! Each religion believes that the land is their own. Politics is not going to change either country's mindset about the other, just because of the fact that this is a deep-rooted religious war.

lineskier, I understand your opinion because you're jewish, but ever thought about the fact that the way Israel is handling the situation now, doesn't improve the current situtation, leave alone it only makes only matters worse for the future, because more and more Palestine families become personally involved with this conflict?

Also I like to point out that the beginning of the second jihad was mainly started out by

1. the assassination of Rabin by a Jew

2. the election of Netanyahu afterwards

3 the provocation of Sharon's visit of Jerusalem.

Hereby I am not saying that the Palestinians and certainly Arafat go free, not at all. But you can hardly call the current Isreali government a government that's persuiing a steady peace. (look at the lately rejection of Sharons (!!!) plan to evacuate Gaza for example)
