Bush didnt respond to the sunami disaster for 3 days, and america has only raised 30 mill or something like that for the disaster. Bush spends more on his cowboy boots during the entire year than he did helping out one of the biggest disasters of our century

I still don't understand how it's always the U.S' obligation to raise money for foreign disasters? Now I'm not saying that raising money to help with reconstruction and whatnot is bad, far from it. In fact I wholeheartedly encourage people/governments to be generous. The fact is that no other government is obligated to send any amount of money, and saying that the US should send money there instead of spending on their military is just nonsense. They are in a war you know...

Bush has so far contributed only $15 mil I believe, this was as of a few days ago...this is less than half of what they plan on spending on the republican inaguration celebrations.

Would you just hand over millions of dollars without knowing how or where it would be spent. the 35 million was just an initial figure. Today the analisis came back and we upped the figure ten fold to 350 million, three more times than the closest other nation.

3 days isn't accurate anyway, so theres no reason to even try to defend that. Even If it was 3 days, we still owned in volunteers sent, and the building materials, clean up eqipment, medical supplies, etc

i didnt read all of the posts cuz i got mad and had to post so excuse me if its been said already. we can get on the presidents case when he only contributes 15 mil to one of the worst natural disasters of our time because mr bush likes to glorify america and make us seem like we are the greatest country, and makes us seem like we are doing so much good for the world. so why then can't we donate some more money to all of those innocent people if we are such a caring and protecting nation? ohh yeah i forgot we are pouring all of our money into a disaster of our own called operation iraqi freedom.

^I hope you're right and it is 350 mil. That's a pretty good start, right there... 30 million, considering the resources at America's disposal, would have been an absolute joke (And to the individual sarcastically implying otherwise: you have your head up your ass; for that little cash they'd barely be able to supply adequate water, much less food/clothing/shelter/medical attention, etc). I'd like to see more, but I suppose they'll do what they can. There would be no real reason to withold aid. It works wonders for intl relations ties... which are sorely needed these days.

^I think your logical probelm might lie somewhere in the fact that while everyone agrees that aid to southeast Asia is a good thing, the vast majority of the world's population was not particularly happy about the prospect of war in Iraq.
