i know theres a thread of this already but it died out a while ago. i'm hearin more and more rumors that burton will indeed have a ski out next year or by the latest two seasons from now. i'm totally against it and don't want this to happen. the only good i see coming otu of it is more snowboarders converting. has anyone heard anything, if so are you for or against it?

its been a while since its been discussed, so OK.

i cant see how it could be bad for skiing, snowboarding is cool, people who make skiis are cool seems fine to me.

it will never happen, and nobody schould buy their skis ever. Burton is bad for skiing.

i'm hope they do this cuz there skis would be pretty sick and snowboarder might switch to sking and not they they own the mountain

no...any company that publicly bashes skiing schould deserve bankrupsy in our community.

1) fuck the idiots that say it'll be bad. NIKE is bad for any winter sport.

2) snowboarders dont have the "i own the mountain because i have one big plank and you got two little ones" mindset, only the faggot ass gapers are like that.

3) if burton doesnt do that same GAY special insert bullshit that they do on their snowboards, then im all for it.

4) im a snowboarder switchin to ski, and im not ashamed, i think that more of us should adopt the "three planker" mindset.

i dont really understand your argument: "the only good i see coming out of it is more snowboarders converting."

so you see the bright side, and fail to realize that there really is no dark side. the company converts. skiers get some more quality product. skiing expands even more. its all good.

and just for all you you STILL dont know, Burton is already in skiing. They own anon and RED. both of which sponsor skiers. why shouldn't they start making skis?

If Burton moves into the sport with their line of skis, it will be better for the sport. There will be more top of the line competition between burton and K2 which owns more winter sport companies than just line. This will push K2 to create better products while Burton is pushing to compete. Snowboarders have lost that attitude, at least in VT cause you see 10 snowboarders sitting at the top of the rail while only 3 of them are hitting it, and all the skiers there are throwing down. Burton sees the fact that skiing is getting a lot larger and want a piece of the goodness

well nike poisons every sport it touches, and it's going to get to skateboarding too, track: maurice green, ball: mj, soccer: becks. it ruined them, they were fucking great, but then they realized "these fuckers are giving me money to wear their shit and act like an asshole so more people watch me advertising for them, SWEET". burton will only do good as it's an original snow company and will likely attract almost the same amount of people as nike would. the more snowboarders like me switch, the more respect we can claim for freeskiing, plus, the more people in total get into it, the more progression will start.

I dont really care, I mean, by Burton making skis is kinda like them saying "Yeah, we were wrong, skiing is fucking sick, were going to do that now".

And by converting snowboarders. . . I think it would be sick if snowboarders skiid every once in a while, but I think skiers should snowboard. If you love the mountain enough, then you will want to do it all.

I never thought of that! It would amazing if Burton started making skis which makes K2 make better skis to keep up with them. K2 would start making even nicer graphics on theyre skis which everyone would go crazy for. Of course since K2 is my favorite brand I would eventually want K2 to push Burton back to making snowboard stuff... which is where they belong.

haha kinda like how anon did?

and then you know... throws money at mr spin to win?

burton skis wouldnt be bad, i hope theyre UNinc skis, that would be cool, a jussi twin. haha

I think they should come predrilled like snowboards. That would be sick. I thinhk all symmetrical twins should come like that.

so since there is what? like 4 million hole patterns? how would that work mon amigo?

or are you suggesting that burton should make a binding and you can only put burton bindings on burton skis, just like thier boards?

ya you must be saying that.

i snowboard and i hate burton snowboards they dont put anytim into the boards cause they are such a big company and their binding inserts are the gayest shit ever

If Burton does start to make skis in the next few seasons, i doubt it will go bankrupt, because its a huge name and new skiers would just go out and buy them cause they recognize Burton, but not Salomon or Rossignol

exactly

no actually it was a huge brain fart. But really skiing should switch to a binding that can do that.

i wouldnt like it cause first off i dont want boarders to switch to skiing cause we want to grow big but them we are just snowboarding and i started to ski cause it was something new and not evryone did it. If burton makes skis it will be like roxy making skis, bad

no, no they shouldnt.

an industry standard would suck, i personally think.

too many holes. too too many. tooooooooooooooooooooo many holes. too many. so man ybroken skis. so so many. too many even.

Basically this is a company that thinks, or at the very least thought as recently as a few years ago, that you're all a bunch of fags.

Just bear it in mind. I do whenever I sport my Burton outerwear!

I'm pretty neutral about this but, one thing i dont want is more boarders turning into skiiers. Cuz i feel much more unique being a skier, one of few(er).

not even a couple years ago....this year the yeti that they had for some rail jam thing or somthing was saying "save a yeti eat a skier."

and i also realise that Jeff Burton himself said that new school skiing was garbage and then took out an add saying skiing was gay in freeskier mag. Screw them, i had anon goggles, and they were cool, but im back with oakley and i like their gear better. I think we schould support companies that put their heart and soul in skiing. This past season we saw line almost go bankrupt and be sold off to K2. There must be something wrong with the industry when acompany that puts its heart and soul into skiing almost dies. Now kids are supporting a company that does not give a fucking about skiing, but more about the buck that they could make off of skiing.

I want my money to go to skiers, paying skiers wages, paying proskiers, better skis. Not some fucking snowboard conglomerate who publicly bashes skiing.

what ever.....fucking the dude who started burton. Im going to have to dig into my freeskiers, but i fluently remember the add.

yeas i agree with the idea of not supporting burton. i think that if they made skis they would be huge hypocrites after saying all that they did

i dont agree with they people all against nike. i think that they make good products (including snow). and if they offered you a great contract to ride for them, wouldnt you?

EXACTLY what i was gonna say but with better words

plz try and find that add ive never seen it but ive heard about it alot

Idiot.

Burton money does already go to skiers, and has been for years.

RED and ANON are also part of burton. The whole thing that burton bashes skiing is just a morkting thing to attract more boarders. And obviously, if burton starts making skis that means even more money will go to skiers, skis, and the industry.

i dont think that it would hurt the sport at all. i mean if they make good skis then thats all that should matter. or at least in my oppinion

it will be cool to have more skis, but i do think they are just hopping on the band waggon. i doubt their attitude is "let's provide skiers with dope skis!"

i think it's probably more like "yeah dude we can make more money!"

either way, if they make good skis, then cool. I'm just saying i would rather support a company like surface or line, who are really trying to help skiers by providing the best product they can, and opening our eyes to new styles and ideas.

i just think its total bull. its all about money for burton. they ragged on skiers when they didn't think they could make any money out of them. but now they think they can dominate the market they stop makin fun of skiers. i dont doubt they try to sponsor a couple of skiers this year

It could be a good or bad thing. Burton is a huge company and can throw alot of money around for helping out skiing and getting more coverage for it. Although I guess they said some bad things about it wich is pretty stupid.
