Burton Rumor

ok so yea. Burton boards do break. so do other boards. they also have way more boards out there than anyother company which is part of the reason you hear more about there boards breaking. I myself messed up 2 ravens this year. but you are forgetting one thing. burton has one of the best warentee's in the bussiness. And as far as the other branch goes chances are they would have a skier running it anyway. Burtons not dumb enough to put a snowboarder in charge of ski's. And they are already putting money back into skiing. Think of contests and such that you see red or anon logo's in. and skiers that they sponser. the money isn't going to snowboarders it's going to both.

i wouldnt want that

libtech is fine and so is anon and red and all that

im pumped on them gettin in the sport

but skis is just wierd from burton and i would imagine itd be all for money

ninthward snowboards is ill

Who cares. Burton makes crappy snowboards and they'd probably make crappy skis. Ever seen what happens to a Burton after a long season of riding park. Now if a company like Never Summer or Bataleon(sp) got into skiing that would be something to get excited about.

Just like how Dynastar bought out Rossignol, and then Quicksilver bought Dynastar. Now they Have "Roxy by Dynastar" skis with Rossi Molds...

It'll be the same way w/ Burton, they'll prolly just merge with Line and that's that.

If you guys are worried about Burton having a monopoly.. just look at Salomon... they own just about everything under the sun.

Adidas

Taylor-made

Maxfli

Rebok

Salomon

Bonfire

Erima

Mavic Bikes

Yeah, Burton has what?

RED and Analog...

burton has thrashed skiing for as long as i can remember. my shop got tshirts made by burton last season that made fun of skiers. i doubt they're going to start making skis. and if they do, i won't buy them because of all the shit they talk.

are you kidding me, i am a snowboarder and get so much hate from you guys on this website cause i post a pic or two and try to get good deals

have you ever seen what happens to any board after a long season of riding park? cause i have every year i have ridden, doesnt matter what board or brand, they all get worked, burton is a decent company with such a huge line they are obviously going to have a few flaws, smaller companies have smaller lines so they have fewer flaws, its simple math, you just have to find the good product in each companies lines

ya They would make a new brand name for them but everyone would know it's burton. The name doesn't really matter anyways

Yea but the leaders of that company arent exactly in the industry to support it its all about$...so if they feel they could blow up the ski industry for some green i wouldnt be shocked to see some skis!!

they'd run into issues when their ski side is doing better than their snowboard side...then people get pissy.

Very Wrong. Salomon was part of the Adidas group which owns/ed all of those brands (not reebok though). Salomon was a pretty small part of that group.

Recently Salomon and a couple of other brands (bonfire) were sold to Amer sports, the same company that owns atomic.

As for the Burton making skis thing, I dont think that would happen given the costs of starting something like that and the relatively few skiers that are out there. Anon and RED were easy to get into skiing, they didn't have to change a thing.

haha, so true if that happened.

it wouldn't happen for a while because burton would have to start getting hyped in the industry and among shops that would sell the skis and shops are buying right now/already ordering next years stuff. i think this coming season it wouldn't be feasible.

im glad a snowboard company has reliesed that freeskiing is a big thing now, it's soon going to take over snowboarding in the parks,(i hope)

I highly doubt that burton will begin making skis. They've been in the snowboard game for so long that their market share is massive and they don't need to make skis. I can understand where many people may believe they would now that Anon and RED have began sponsoring skiers.

There have also been rumors that Burton will be making skateboards but the same as the ski rumor, I don't think there's much substance to these rumors.

Yes, it's true. They're bringing out skis under a different name, which I forget. I read about it on Skipass or somewhere, but couldn't find any more information on the subdivision. But really guys, Burton products are not all that great. I live with 4 snowboarders and am good friends with a lot more - every one has had major problems with their boots, most of their boards have had delams or inserts rip out, and a few of the guys have broken bindings (one snapped a baseplate twice and snapped the whole binding in half at the heel once). These guys ride hard but you would definitely expect more quality control. What I'm saying is, popularity does not equal quality. Burton is mass-marketed and its main appeal is its image and supposed reputation. Yes, they might manage to get some decent skis produced eventually, but I wouldn't trust my money to a snowboard company in its first year of production.

skiiers are so gave... snowboarding came after skiing... its not like skiing just started.... you my friend are an idiot

Yeah... from Anon, RED and all the outerwear, they didn't have to change a thing. And for skis, could they just press them in the snowboard presses? i bet they'd need ski presses for it to work sufficiently.

I've got to disagree with you there. One of my friends rides Never Summer boards and they are so durable. He put about 200+ park days on one of their boards and it held together nicely. The thing that most impressed me was that eventhough the edges cracked after about 50 days the sidewalls stayed fully intact tothis day. On most sidewall stuff once the edges crack the sidewall slowly pulls off of the board. They also have a ver yoogd three year warranty that covers edge cracks and delamination. No Burton board could even compare.

Also with bigger companies there is less quality control so they are actually more likely to have flawed boards.

good arguement, i agree now, thank you, that is amazing 200 plus days, but i beleive it, i just heard of my freinds Never Summer lasting pretty close to that long, amazing, thank you, by the way i am drunk but i still like you for being the only civilized person on this site to argue properly

I think you got it wrong. cuz ive heard from ppl, that they wont be making skis, but will be sponsoring for outerwear. thats just what i hear though.

I smell BS my friends dad talked to Jake Burton before and asked him if he'll ever make skis and Burton said Hell No and flipped out and went on a whole rant.

i would have to get some opinions from some owners f the skis before buying them, although it would be a great opportunity for getting sponsored

I am from Colorado and swear by never summer onky because I have seen their construction process and rode one, durabilty is their stat, the split boards are in their own category.Word.
