Burton Outerwear, should i get it or not?

so basically i saw this awesome burton jacket for pretty cheap, but im not sure if i should get it because its a snowboard company

but i also know that snowboarding helps progress our sport in a way

what do you guys think, and do any of you have burton stuff, and how do you like it

i like to go by the qoute i saw in some guys sig.

skiing is 90% rider, 10% equipment, and 0% the kind of jacket your wearing. it dont matter. you might get some flack from the local snowboarders, but half the skiers i see have snowboarding stuff.

I got a burton jacket, its waterproof,windproof and breatheable. do you really care about peoples opinions that much that you will pass up a sick deal on a sick jacket you like?

i bought a burton puffy, it's pretty sick, i got a crazy deal on it, cause it's was a couple models out of date.

If it has a good water proof rating and breathability as well as fit your riding conditions than why not buy it?

 
Im a skier and i have a bunch of burton stuff. I have a burton jacket, a pair o pants and some socks. They make killer stuff. The brand of outerwear means nothing. If it looks good, and it works good, get it.

 
i find it hilarious that some snowboarders (owner of DC Lab and jakeburton, for example) still feel theyre such badass rebels for snowboarding that they feel the need to HATE skiers. what a joke.

I think $130 is probably retail. Try looking around for a better deal.

Burton stuff is pretty cheap, it rips all the time. i have a pair of their ski pants that i got cheap from the sale and they have already torn all around the bottom and stuff. Their gloves are horrible and fall apart. Their jackets have a tendancy to rip very easily. But i'm not against wearing snowboarding stuff at all. whatever works

wear what you want. I have some burton stuff and it is pretty nice quality. If you like it, and it is made well, why not? I appreciate that we should support skiers, not snowboarding, but if that were true wouldnt we all be driving American cars even though they suck?

It's not that i want burton, i just want a sick junior jacket that's not too much, and there isn't much choice for junior jackets. a lot of times i've seen nice jackets on the company's website but i can't find them anywhere on the internet

Burton makes the nicest outer wear. I was thinking on getting this analog outfit fir next year, but, well, I can't....... It'd be my first choice though.

Burton does make nice looking outerwear but the quality isn't too great. I've bought 2 of their pants (supposedly the high end ones) and they aren't waterproof or durable at all even though they claim to be. They soak up the Sierra cement like a sponge and have torn to shreds at the pockets where they don't even see much abuse. I can understand ripping on the bottoms, but at the freaking pockets? I also bought a Burton jacket and it's the same deal. I have finally given up on Burton. I just bought a Sessions jacket and it's much better than a Burton.

 
dude, i have the burton iPod jacket, and it's a sick piece. not only does is have an mp3 player on the fuckin wrist, it's a siiiiiick shell too. taped seams, waterproof zippers

The only problem is with pants, snowboard type pants don't have any reinforcement at the bottom and they get ripped up.

Otherwise, how the hell does your coat have anything to do with what's attached to your feet?

Since I get proform, the only non-Burton stuff I have when I ski are my skis, boots, poles and goggles. No problems with my pants ripping at the boots either. I was 50-50 ski-board this year too.

go for it, but i personally would buy something from the ski industry. it is just a personal decision on who i want to support

its bullshit. I don't know how you guys can support a company that has made a brand and career on ripping on skiers. Do you not remember the ads that Burton ran with the snowboarder jumping over the loser skier? Do OUR industry a favor and buy from a company that supports us.

I'll start buying ski company outerwear once it starts to look good. don't get my wrong, I just got a helly hansen shell but for the most part I hate ski clothing.

I wear snowboard clothing cause it just looks better, I dont care what name it has on it I just care if I like it and burton and his analogs, ronins and stuff just looks fucking great and is great made, super technical

the only reason i have some HH stuff is cuz i got it super cheap from the rep. ive had jackets from sessions, M6, and NFA all snowboard companies, HH is good and all but in general snowboard companies make way cooler shit thats just as good

Jake Burton made snowboards using technolagy that skis used. Without skiing, urton would just be some cheap ass dike still living in Londenberry, VT (where he made his 1st snowboard).

I buy Burton becuase the factory is 20minutes from my house and all other ski clothing is hard to find or overpriced.

I did not read all the replies.

I would say yes, who cares about ski or snowboard company.

But because its burton, I was say, May be not.

Now, you guys are probably like "fuck off we dont care bla bla bla"

But burton wont let their clothes in from ANalog (not sure if its this serie) but from one serie get in a boardshop that sells skis because they say its not core enough...which seems to be completely wrong to me.
