New Zealand was named after Zeeland, the island in Denmark that Copenhagen is on (name means literally, Sea-Land) And there is a Zealand in england, but it doesnt have any realtion to New Zealand
New Zealand is named after the Dutch province of Zeeland, the 2nd most powerful province at the time. At that time Australia was called New Holland, after the strongest province, but they only decided to keep the name for New Zealand.
you mean my superb googling ablity where wikipedia is the first source? im glad you find this all as amusing as i have, thank you drew. me thinks we should do this again sometime.
ha, the funny thing is i had the Aussie, kiwi convo with jossi, and he told me that you don't wanna call an Aussie or kiwi or a kiwi an aussie, that's one way not to make friends
I randomly sat next to Jossi's dad and little bro (bo i think?) on the plane out to UT on Wednesday. I was watching skiing videos and then we got to talking about the Superpipe comp. Really nice people!
