Winners: QP - Dumont, Big Air - Tanner, Dual Moguls - GT.

Hate to say it but this was *not* a good televised skiing event. Pretty cool as a comp where NewYork/Placid locals can see some big names, but not worth televising.

The QP looked like a rock. Tanner and Dumont threw some cool stuff, but for the most part, the tricks did not make skiin look that great. Chris Hawks doing a pretty gayed out handplant could not have been good for skiing's image.

Big Air again was not that great. It looked like most of the people in it didn't feel like getting broken on the hard snow. Hell, tanner didn't even do a switch rodeo. GTs jumps sucked. Hawk did some decent cork 9's, but no grab on em (pretty good for being like 30 though). Dumont looked like he was more fuckin around then tryin to win, and Tanner did some stylie non-inverted spins for the win. The other mogul skiiers didn't do anything worth mentioning.

Dual free moguls was kinda cool, but the results made it suck. Dumont and Tanner got robbed (in my opinion). Actually, Tanner *definitely* got robbed. He 450ed off on the rail, did a clean back, and a nice dspin 9. This lost to like a straight rail hit and two 7s. He wasn't that far behind on speed either, although that was only supposed to count for 10%. After those runs, the rest was frankly pretty damned lame. GT's winning run was straight off the rail, average 3 tail, and a duffed 3 or 7 (3 i think). Snowboarders watching would have been right to laugh.

In the end, I think CBS could have picked WAY better comps to air on TV. WSI festival comes to mind, or the US Open. Both of which have WAY more talented skiing and better conditions (I'll admit it, the west 90% of the time wins on that). I also wonder how much time they spent editing it, being that it aired the day after the comp.

To end: cool to see skiin on CBS, wish it was different skiing though.

I was there all weekend. it was a good comp. everything was icey. the 1/4 pipe was like a rock. but oh well. it was cool to have a comp like that at our home mtn.

I thought it was sick...I would have given anything to be there. Stupid injury. But none the less all it needed was a different resort on the west coast. But I am more than sure Lake placid chucked in a hefty chunk of change to make it all happen...which in the end is the bottom line anyway.

Would have been sick at Park City...Halfpipe at night at the bottom, big air close to bottom...so huge croud. Mogul course is already setup...but anyway. Sick that skiing was on right after sunday football.

It was pretty cool, good to flip on the TV and see skiing. Nothing big was thrown. Kinda rediculous GT could beat Tanner. I hope GT never wins another ski comp again, he gives skiing such a bad name.

I thought it was pretty good. it needed some more competitors, or if there were more that they didn't show then some more quality skiers. The mogul airs were kinda on the small side I think. A lot of the skiing with the exception of a few spots was just average, people shouldn't be casing tables or landing right after the knoll on tv.

It was an innovative comp and nice to see some skiing on cbs but I though It could have been a lot better.

 
tanner got robbed, the skills of most of the riders sucked on the qp and big air, and the people on the qp were suckin out so bad it made me feel like i could do better than these doush bags and i suck. but steeles promodels were FUCKIN SICK. the mougal comp was sweet also. next yr get some better riders

it looked like the reason the QP hits sucked was because the thing was bullet proof. If I was a west coast pro doin some weird little early season comp, I wouldn't be riskin my ass on some icy quarter pipe.

 
a pro should be able to use an icy QP, come on

i dunno. i'd say dumont and tanner were throwin down pretty well. steele's 5 was like, eh, but then, i don't think of him as much of a QP guy.

Those 3 and GT were the only big pros to me in that comp. GT and everyone elses flairs really didn't look that great.

I wish crichton had been in.

 
yeah crighton porbably would have torn up that ice.

anyway, the other pros should have been able to ski a hard QP for 10 grand...they weren;t even going nearly as fast as they could have in to it.

i know it's harder than it looks, believe me, but they're pros and for ten grand i would straightline in to that thing

the 1/4 pipe was mad icey. it kicked my ass during training friday. Whiteface is a great place to have the comp, but the problem is that whiteface is still a rookie when it comes to anything that has to do with park or a pipe. the comp was really fun, everyone had a good time.

hey came in second. Tony is the man, i hung out with him and Tanner alot while they were in town. Tony is something the sport of moguls needs.
