Bumming in SLC

Hey i am from wyoming and i am going to move to SLC next year to ski. I have a job in the oil fields right now making enough bank that i am going to try to live off of it for a while. I still want to work at a resort though either snowbird or alta. Whats the best way to do it so i can ski as much as possible and work as little as possible.

Work at night, and try to work at the bird, the people there are so much cooler than the elitist fucks from alta.

'I don't know about you but I was always more interested in what the bark was made of.'

At least we're not giving our money to some over-developing, powderbirds supporting, Texan oil tycoon. I think most people besides this guy would say working for a place at Alta involves a lot less corporate bullshit than working for the Bird.

if by corporate bullshit you mean not living in a box with 3 other stinky ski bums in conditions rats think are unsanitary, yeah probably.

We pay our debt sometimes.

who the fuck is this guy? Working at alta is dope. Only a fag would worry about living with 3 other guys. The bird sucks balls compared to alta

personaly i would rather ski snowbird everyday over alta anyday. granted that is cause i know where to go at the bird, and not alta.

^ Yeah, I mean all you have to do is look at the Bird to see that there is a ton of awesome terrain. But I definitely like the less top-down style of Alta, and the attitude better. But I also don't know the Bird near as well as I know Alta.

well this is my first season skiing the bird, I must say it has more vert and lift accessed terrain. The employees I've found to be friendlier aswell. I've got a lot of elitest attitude from alta employees. I like alta's access for Bc a bit better and I know Alta a little better so on storm days I'd rather ski there. But as far as vertical/per day you can't beat the bird. tram laps on the cirque is always sick.

People love throwing around this "elitist attitude" shit. What exactly do you mean? And how are people at Snowbird any different? I guess I don't get it.

Well, I've found snowbirds employees to be a bit younger and more chill.

for instance my name was on the collge pass list so someone from "fun patrol" took my pass. He wasnt even supposed to be checking passes at supreme lift. anyway I go down to the main office to clear it up they said sorry they didnt know why I was on the list. So I went back to supreme lift to get my pass back, low and behold "fun patrol" went skiing for the day without a radio and didnt leave my pass there. I had to ski back to the main office and sit there for 2 hours until I convinced them to give me a star pass for the day considering they fucked up. I told the guy before he took my pass that he was in the wrong and all this shit but he coped a big attitude and took my pass for the day. (which he wasnt even supposed to do)

This is just one instance of bullshit I've encountered at alta if I feel compelled later I might share a few more stories

you might want to share those stories. I just get the opposite from that alta employes. They are always cool as fuck to me not really caring what I do as long as I dont endanger some one else. The bird on the other hand wont even let me go under the lift ropes when no one is in line. WTF is that about who am I hurting? All that the bird cares about is money. They could care less about anything else.

yeah man the alta employees are dope. I cant complain about the bird employees either, but i feel like alta is so much more "homely" feeling than the bird. it feels smaller, and like a more tight-knit group of skiiers.
