From my understanding they were a taboo/joke trick (banned in early slvsh games) but I always assumed it was more of a joke. Nowadays I think its still a joke but more ironic, people still yell "Do a K-Fed!" to fuck with people, hell, I still say it powder skiing sometimes to fuck with people.

We call the opposite of a K-Fed (front swap back 2) a “Britney” (back swap front 2)

because Kevin and Britney Spears dated for a while so we named that set of tricks after them. So a Britney is just the opposite of a K-Fed.
