Bullshit

Luckily my tuition was prepaid quite a few years ago so I dont have to worry about tuition increases~

NM just realized I will have to pay this fee, and in all likelihood was probably built to get around GET (the prepaid program). Well now id say im pissed~

Exactly what it is designed to do...plus this way it is not a "tax" just a surcharge.... and all this time I though the G in GET stood for Gaurunteed....

Our Nations system has been on the break down ever since the fraudulant bankers decided to give out loans. That alone has destroyed our Nation because human nature calls for greedy self fullfillment regardless of it's impact down the line. Face it, the American dream is coming to an end and has already ended for most of us, ultimatley because of fluff money loans that they could'nt back up 50 years ago.

Well there you have it, I'm actually suprised none of them dems in here have come running to her defense on this or anything she has done lately for that matter. Claim to be so open minded to things unless there is an (R) next to it. Oh well just have to wait another 4 years.

side note: I was NOT a Bush supporter, he was not a Republican, he spent waaaaaay to much money.

You and everyone else I know, republican, democrat or otherwise. Which begs the question: How the fuck did she get elected again? Remember in the movie Black Sheep how the coincidentally horrible excuse for a human being that was running for governor of washington used dead people registered as voters to gain votes? Just a theory, its not like that would ever happen in real life ..."The election was held on November 2, 2004, with the initial count showing Gregoire trailing Rossi by 261 votes. However, a legally mandated machine recount reduced that lead to only 42 votes, then a hand count that was requested and funded by the state's Democratic Party gave Gregoire a 10-vote lead. Following a State Supreme Court ruling that allowed several hundred ballots from King County to be included, her lead was further increased to 130 votes[27], but when the vote was certified by the state's Secretary of State, Sam Reed, at the end of December, one vote which had been counted in Thurston County past the deadline was disqualified and her lead was reduced to 129 votes.[28] Washington's Republican leadership then filed suit, claiming that hundreds of votes, including votes by felons,[29] deceased voters,[30] and double voters,[30] were included in the canvass, but on June 6, 2005, Judge John E. Bridges ruled that the Republican party did not provide enough evidence that the disputed votes were ineligible—or for whom they were cast—to overturn the election.[31] Judge Bridges did note that there was evidence that 1,678 votes had been illegally cast throughout the state,[32] but found that the only evidence submitted to show how those votes had been cast were sworn statements from four felons that they had voted for Rossi.[32] He subtracted those four votes from Rossi's total and upheld the election.[33]"
But yeah, that sucks she's going back on her word ... again. I guess its come to be expected :/

she already showed who she was the first term.... iy woulda been niced to see someone else have a chance but oh well...hopefully we will all survive through this tax storm in which everybody has to spend more money and earn less exept the legislators... because we all know that they are the ones who truely earned raises and public funding for their services to society. Its bullshit that they introduce new laws to tax the poeple who are hurting the most instead of taking pay cuts themselves.... proves (R)'s are not the only greedy ones.....

Laughable.

How much of a pay cut do you expect them to take? And before I post how much they actually make, how much do you think they make?

The excitement is too much to handle, I have to post anyway.
http://www.salaries.wa.gov/salary.htm

So 42K for a legislator, there are almost 150 in Washington, so a huge 6.3 mil. in pay annually.

Now, say students are assessed a $500 fee.

40k students at UW

14k at WWU

18 at WSU

15 at CWU and EWU (I don't know)

is 87,000 students x 500 is 43.5 million

Maybe a pay cut is the answer! Ha!

Sidenote: Politics with high schoolers is comical

you forgot evergreen.

$42k is not exactly a lot of cash. All reducing it would do is make it so only the shitty ones who could not find a better job would stay.

6.3 million is a very small part of the budget. Why don't you look at what the budget for the State Universities is, you forgot Evergreen by the way. Or Transportation. Or law enforcement, Or... the list goes on. The point is your hitting the wrong end of the stick. Instead look at unnecessary spending that could be cut. Does the UW really need the largest 'Scandinavian Studies' program outside of Scandinavia? Fuck no. Mind you its still not a large program, Its a few offices tucked in next to the basement bathroom in Riaat hall. The thing is that there are alot of this '_______ Studies' programs, that while quite small, do add up. Instead many of these programs could be grouped togeather into larger and more cost effective programs. Thats just in the education department. There are plenty of other excessive departments and programs going on at the UW, just like there are at every other State University.

How about parking enforcement, do they really need enough staff to check every parking space every 20 minutes, and hand out a bunch of tickets that always get reduced.

Or the IMA, does there need to be a million treadmills, elliptical machines and other cardio equipment that gets replaced every 6 months when there is a small, yet nice set of trails right next to the IMA?

Lots of uneffective spending going on, why not cut that instead of taxing education.

Nice to know I'm not the only one that has more than one sentence to say. Also nice to know that high schooler or not there are some purdy inteligent people talking here. Im far from highschool and even college but not that savy as some of you. I get the overall picture better than most sometimes and I know it will take a new generation of Real Americans to change the system that we have let be corrupt to the point of no return. Unnecessary spending I.E. fluff money is how these greedy fucks do it regardless of party. W did ruin the R's rep though, I like how Obama hasn't been so bias so far because he has hired some R's,, then again nobody really knows what is going on. We'd be better off having a computer make decitions based off what is good and positive for our nation and the well being of our citizens. Mabe I shouldnt write this, sense big brother is monitoring all of us but, if a crazy like those black dudes from Tacoma started sniping of Traders that created and benefitted on the mess they have made this country I wonder if that would scare the others on that list to come forward and give back some of the millions from their billion dollar portfolio, can you believe nobody, not even the Gov has prosecuted these traders, you know why,,, because most of them are in on it. They just fuck us as they make tones of money and then give themselves tones more with no consensus from the tax payers that are paying for it... The levy will break sooner or later.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008891995_get20m.htmlOn a plus note, she did come out and assure that this new "surcharge" would be covered by GET, which is nice, but that is expected to drop GET's assets to only 80% of its future liabilities from close to 89. Guess we will see how long this program last and if it will eventually dig itself back out. I know I have been blasting Gregoire about needing to cut back on gov spending and programs (its increased 30%+ since 2004) but I really did like this program and it would be nice to hae it around to purchase for my children one day.
