Bulking up on P90x.. K+

I mean, there's definitely a happy medium between looking like a body builder and a holocaust survivor. Bulking up for a skinny motherfucker might just mean putting on a bit of muscle and getting toned, not making it so you can't shampoo your own hair because your arms are too big haha.
 
Start eating as much as possible, definitely start hitting the gym. You gotta start somewhere. Bodybuilding.com is a great way to find workout routines, just read the forums. Start with some protein and you will notice results. Stick with it

Protein is protein, no matter what way you cut it. It's all from milk (whey, at least). What you pay for is the composition of the POWDER that you buy, not the protein itself. A better value protein will have more protein per scoop of powder.

haha you went raw with the posts! its good to hear from someone who has a similar body type. i feel like the majority of people are trying to cut. And if they are trying to bulk they arent starting out anywhere near as small as me..

So im thinking ill probably bulk up on weights and do less reps for all the p90x stuff while still going to the gym three or for times a week for the time being. thanks for the help yall!! one of the few good threads ive seen on nsg in a while
 
Ok, sorry for the dub post, but I was cruising through a thread on Bodybuilder forums about protein. It didn't take me long to be under the impression that there is no single "best" protein powder, just one that works best for you're needs

Your actually not as small as you think. I weighed 122 my junior year at 5'11 now i weigh 163 freshman in college at 5'11...its not easy to get big...but go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week and do every rep until failure doing at least 12 differant lifts....you will be a total gorrilla juicehead...like myself.
 
you guys sound more anorexic than skinny ha shit. im 6'1 175-180 and pretty skinny. i cant imagine being a few inches taller and 40-50lbs less.

as soon as i get healthy im getting a crossfit membership. that'll give you a full body workout.
 
Get a partner, helps a lot. Tons of calories, protein, carbs. As it has already been said, a good diet is number 1. But adding supplements help so much when you want to get that extra kick. Once you get into a good routine and you start pushing yourself and getting stronger....it becomes addicting.
 
umm..no. you sir are an idiot. Look at every pro football player. Lifting weights 5 or 6 times a week. Obviously you hit differant muscle groups on differant days so u dont overtrain your muscles because thats couterproductive and will see virtually no gains.

Heres my schedule :

Monday : Chest

Tuesday : Back and Shoulders

Wensday : Bi's and Tri's

Thursday : Legs

Friday : Chest

Saturday : Bi's and Tri's *If i lift saturday work schedule permitting*
 
What an awful routine. I guess that's why you're 165 lbs at 5'11".

Here's how you get 'big', 'jacked', 'swole', or 'deezed'

Bench 1x a week

Squat 1x a week

Deadlift 1x a week

Overhead Press 1x a week

Do these REALLY fucking heavy and try and progress each week. Do 2 exercises per lift for assistance to help train the movement(for bench do like dumbbell bench, and barbell rows, squat do like leg press and lunges, deadlift like GHR's and good mornings, overhead press do chinups and shrugs)

5 sets of 10 for assistance and eat whatever you want throughout the day, but eat a large meat lovers pizza at night. To get big, you need to ingest lots of calories. Clean bulks=shitty bulks. Just ask Lee Priest.

I was 5'11" and 168 lbs my junior year. I'm now 231 lbs at 6'1" 2 years later. I ate like a motherfucker, lifted heavy weights and slept a lot. For the first while I didn't even touch a protein shake and gained 28 lbs in 5 months. Protein supplements help, yes, but they will not ever replace a bulking diet.

For those of you that think I'm full of shit

310 lb bench

495 lb squat

455 lb deadlift

and a 195 lb overhead press(when my shoulders aren't fucked) bringing my big 3 total to 1260 lbs raw at 18 years old after 2 years of working out.

If you want to get large, look up 5/3/1. If you want to have a 6 pack the entire time you're working out, then I'm sorry we don't have the same priorities and I can't help you. Hope this helps, and message me for any more information you need.

 
Nahh im not that big but im at 6% body fat checked it last week, and i can bench 245 lbs which is pretty fucking deisel..benching 150% of their weight...find somebody else that can do that. Nobody on newschoolers i garuntee it.

Thats unreal....Not many people can lift that much..especially at 170...i dont think he can lift that much. 300 would be pushing it.

And yes i can bench 245 do i really need to film myself putting on the plates onto the bench and lifting it just to satisfy you? I can garuntee you i max at 245, more than you will ever be able to lift.
 
you can usep90x for what you want it to be. If you want to bulk do 6-8 reps of more weight. p90x has all the exercises to get you ripped as well as shred fat (although you dont sound like you need to). I really enjoyed doing a cycle of p90x, and use a ton of the exercises when I work out now.
 
Oh, you silly, silly bitch. I'm 6'1" about 195. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and ride my road bike/run 4-5 times a week. I will guarantee I am more fit than you, but yes, I would love to see a video of you putting up 245. Shit, you live in Michigan, don't you? I'll come out and spot your skinny ass.

If you want to bulk up just for the fuck of it, drink this shit. You'll gain a few pounds but your basically drinking big mac sauce and if you care that little about your body you are working out for all the wrong reasons.

when it comes to muscle, repair=building.

you literally cause trauma to the muscle and then protein and its aminos come in and repair/strengthen the muscle so that it doesnt get traumatized again...hence building muscle.

Wanna gain weight? eat more. Wanna lose weight? eat less.

Weight gain/loss is a physics problem- calories in vs calories out. nothing more. eat like you were told to in 3rd grade ie food pyramid, and adjust the portioning to fit your goals. its not the workout that gets you bigger, its your diet. just be consistent in your diet and training, and you will see noticeable results pretty quickly. and FYI, what you think is a lot of food, really isnt.

anyone who starts giving you micromanaged diet advice or lifting advice is a fucking idiot. that stuff is for people who have been at it for a while and need to fine tune their training/diet to continue making gains.
