building rails

anyone built thier own rails,, and anyone have any advise,,

i've been looking at sign posts and thinkin those might work,, and they're sorta free if you steal them

anyway just looking for ideas

 
yeah.... unless you have the ability to weld metal and stuff (or the equipment i should say) i would use PVC piping as the top of your rail.. slides VERY nicely.

yea, word to the pvc, attaching metal pipes to 2x4's works good too

stick around and be no clown just keep on rockin' to the A-l sound

 
i used PVC last winter, slides nice but makes a bunch of little shavins from the plastic. also shatters if it gets real cold out

pvc is really cheap i think. its wayyy worth it and doesnt do the damage that metal can do on your skis

 
i ripped my tampoline and as i was taking it down i realize i could make a sorts of rails out of it so when the snow falls im gunna set it up

If you have access to welding then I would say just spend $20 on some nice steel rails and weld a flat to kink or a c rail. Somethin along those lines. Make sure its longer than 10 feet.

pvc blows but its mad easy to make rails , if u cant weld drilling metal to 2x4's works fine i have a sweet 12 footer made that way

^ no its not, we got 3 8 foot sections of steel 2.5 inch pipeing for 12 bucks at my local steel yard. cant beat that.

 
still thinking of stealing some square stop sign posts

they are 1 inch thick and you could attach two side by side for a 2 inch flat rail,,

dont steal stop signs, steal some other sign, cause if your caught you could get charged with attmped manslaughter, no joke. they assume that you were taking it down so that someone would fly through the intersection and cause a crash, i know a kid that was stealin signs and the only one he got in truly deap shit for was the 1 stop sign he had, all the others he just had to return.

 
your fucking dumb, the steel in my pick the is over 300$ worth of materials idiot, the top rail is galvanized steel which is really expensive because it doesnt rust unless u grind and of the top off............you did not pay 20$ for any rail ever

bet you i did. never said it was galvinized, go to a steel yard and ask for straght gauge steel, 8 foot lengths cost no more then 10 bucks, trust me i would not spend any more on a rail. just sounds like you got ripped off.

Yeah maybe if any of you know what they were talking about and not talking out of there asses I would understand except vtrider. But I got 20 foot steel rails for $10 each from menards. They were made to be fences but are sturdy and I couldn't get anything better. They fit really good on my rainbow with lip off box. Overall materials cost like $150. But romeo your a fuckin deusche and got deusched into buying the wrong shit for your rail man.

I got nothin.
 
r u fucking kidding me, i got the steel for free from my friends dad who owns a construction company that makes precast molds so actually no i didnt get deusched and it was free but still 300$ of steel, ur the one who doesnt kno wtf ur talking about

First off the bottom supports go in the snow second thing.....the rail slides sweet so i really dont care and yea there are solid rails
