water in a spray bottle, if you keep it in your pack it wont freeze. And beat the shit out of it with a shovel. Oh, and try salting it, it hardens the snow.

its best to use rock salt, like water softener salt or somethin. Ive heard thats how most of those big gaps get made, and it hardens the inrun, so you can have a solid in run and a pow landing

If you can cut big blocks out of hard snow sort of like an igloo, it works awesome too. Bring lots of water, and a whole bunch of shovels. If someone snowboards, it makes it easier to use the board to pack it down. Make sure you dont use a metal shove lto pack down teh jump after you use water on it, becauset he water will stick to the now ice-cold metal, and wreck the jump.

Hey everyone, I'm a grape!!!

rock salt works, and you can buy big bags of it at grocery stores, or just buy a bunch of ammonium nitrate at a hardware store, if you're into not killing the plants and all that environmental stuff ammonium nitrate won't harm the plant life when the snow actually melts all the way down. and like everyone is saying just pack it constantly, like whenever you get another chunk of snow on there keep packin.

or just learn how to build jumps because your hill does have any, when you are about 7 like i did.

i usually put wood, or skis on the back side to keep the snow in one spot. The salt you use is the same stuff they use to melt snow on sidewalks. YOur grocery store may have it, but your better off at a hardware store, cheaper. make your hit in layers. build like a 6' high jump, then salt it down. Put a little bit of salt down. too much and you will cause too much melt. THe idea is you melt it a little, and then it re-freezes slower, making it harder, it becomes more like ice than snow. then apply another layer, then another, and keep applying a little bit of salt on it. By the time you get a decent size jump, salt down the whole thing, all sides of it, but remember a little bit goes a long way.

If it is done right, it will stay hard as fuck, and it will last a long time.
