Building a rail with PVC only?

Hey I was wondering if building a rail from pvc would be passable (sp?) instead of using HDPE? Im thinking about a wood frame with 3 wide 2"pipes.

when you say "pvc only" i hope you are referring to the surface...the frame should be wood or metal .. just clearing this out cause i'm sure there would be some NSer clever enough to try and make a full pvc rail and die ....

about a week ago i made a PVC shotgun rail using two 1.5 inch pipes put on the top right next to eachother with no gap. works like a charm

sweet. so what do you think would be the bset thing to attach them to the frame? diagonal screws or just screw at the top and bottom and figure something out in the middle?

there is a real good tutorial on how to build the exact setup you are looking for in the build-a-jib cult. but i just ductaped the 2 rails together, put the 2x4 over top of them (after lining everything up), and screwed 6 screws into each rail (one every 2-3ft). i screwed down through the wood then through the PVC. so when i flipped it right side up, the screw is sticking up through each pipe about 3/4". i dont know if that made any sense to you but basically i screwed up through the wood completely then into the PVC from the bottom, the screw is visible through the PVC about 3/4"

you really cant see in this pic but at the end, maybe 4" deep into the PVC, there are 2 screws sticking up (1 in each pipe)

hope this helps bro

the basic idea is to get your PVC, get your wood, screws, drills, and to make the rail shape with wood, and then take the PVC, drill through the top so theres a hole, put them up and down each PVC spaced pretty good distance and then drill down through the bottom of the PVC (bottom being the part of the PVC that is touching wood) and boom, your done. ive made cannons, 20 foot, 12 foot, 50 foot

With my friend, we did 4 pvc rails and honestly dude! u better put something on the tube because it breaks fucking easily

the more Popsicle sticks you use the better.

also, sandpaper slides really well, try to get a lower grit like 25-50
