alright so some idiots at the hill here wanna build a halfpipe for us. first off they are complete fucken morons for even thinking that they can build one. so the some guys hop in the groomer and start piling snow on a pretty flat area. all it is is basically a big pile of snow and they wanna make a halfpipe out of this. i tried telling them that they cant do it because a) theres no way there can be enough to build one

b) theres no fucken trench dug into the dirt which is a necessity

c) theres no slope or speed

d) we have no pipe dragon

they dont realize that we need these things to build a halfpipe and now what theyre gonna do is bitch at us for not using their 'halfpipe' fucken jackasses

tell them that places like stratton use upwards and possibly over 300,000 dollars in snow making to build the us open pipe, and that if you;re not shooting to make one like that, you;re going to make a piece of shit. If that doesnt get them in the right mindset. explain to them the need for smooth and consistant, as well as consistantly maintained pipe walls for saftey. If that doesnt do it, then explain to them that they're resources could be spent in much better ways than wasting them on a pipe such as places like stowe.

 
tell them to build different stuff instead of a halfpipe, like a table top or some jumps. or give their money to me.

theres no way in hell theyre buying a pipe dragon. it took them like 5 years to raise money for to buy an old second hand groomer and its still not even paid off yet. 2 years ago the final gross was 2000 and some bucks which fucken sucks ass

We have a full sized pipe, the x games trials were held there. But right now are pipe is full with snow, it never stops.

sounds like my mountain's pipe, up until this year.

a couple of guys actually went to work and BUILT a pipe groomer a couple of years ago, and after a few years of tweaking, it's actually working pretty well. the last few years' pipes have been a joke, but this year's pipe is small, but smooth and consistent......

not to mention all the rails and boxes that have appeared this season.

Grouse knows there's no chance of ever making a pipe, so they don't attempt it.

Cypress gave up on it years ago.

Who knows, maybe they'll pull an amazing pipe out of their ass and you'll be happy.

But probably not.

Pre made trenches for pipes should be common knowledge at ski resorts.

It allows for earliest opening of the pipe with minimum snow fall and less cat usage.

yeah a little hill near my house wanted to make an in-ground pipe but they final relized that that was stupid becase we didn't havea dragon or anything else to take car of it

 
My local does a pretty good job now that they got their shit together, but last year the dumbass who was responsible for cutting it tried to air out in a snowmobile and broke his back which = pipe never being cut

umm, breck doesnt have a trench! and breck gets a brand new zaug every year as part of their budget, witch is prety much unlimited. i mean we do have a cutter for just the quarter pipe, thats extrava gant. we also have 4 new bombadeer (sp) cats.

the first superpipe in idaho opened today! at the first new resort in the nation in 20 years or something, its called Tamarack. yeah, at sun valley they tried to build a halfpipe without a dragon, and it suuuuuucks. and they definitely shouldnt be hurting for the $$$ to buy a pipe dragon, but they're all a bunch of uptight yuppies that try to make it look like they encourage freestyle and new school when really they are content in not only their one peices, but the $3,000 Prada powder suits that they retail at the base.... buy hey maybe skiing really IS all about the way you look....

They should make a pipe out of dirt in the summer so you can ride mt. bikes on it and just cover it w/ snow in the winter. It would save a ton of water too.

ill get a pic of soon of what the guy built and wanted it to be a halfpipe. some kids tried to build a qpipe out of it and that didnt, there was like 1 foot of tranny and like 5 feet of vert so it was pointless

our hill has a pipe dragon or something but they have used it onnce in the past five years and it sucked ass, pointless waste of money

 
A backhoe is actually a pretty good idea... the range of motion it has as it comes down would be pretty even to make a transition. Just change the bucket to a smaller but wider shovel, and it'd be a pretty cheap way to make a half decent pipe.
