Build me a gaming pc...

Time to upgrade my gaming rig. I don't feel like doing as much research as the first rig I built so I am here.

$850 budget

I have a case and all peripherals from my old build. So, I need a motherboard, processor, ram, hard drive or drives, graphics/video card and power supply.

Only preference is Intel processor. I have run both Intel and AMD and prefer Intel.

What would you build with those stipulations?

Intel pentium II 166 MHz processor

64 Mb ram

4 GB HD

1024 KB dedicated graphics card

should be set for at least a few years.

Current i7-XXXXk four core processor

16gb of ram, maybe 32gb if you can afford it

gtx 1070/1080, if you can get your hands on one for cheap

Dude are you kidding me ?? If he manages to afford all of that he would be set for life.

You may want to consider a prebuilt. GPU's on a prebuilt go for msrp instead of the inflated price.

you may want to wait, GPU prices are pretty high right now.

this, you could get a 1050 or maybe a 1060. but it might be better to get a used rx 480, 580 or a 1070 1080 or even a 980ti. 1060's and 1050's are ok, but your not gonna be maxing out gta 5 graphics on them for sure.

if i were to recommend for 800 bucks, 1050 ti, 1060 or 480 if you can find it for cheap somewhere, it should run you around 200 bucks.

an msiz270 gaming mobo sells for about 100.

power supply i would recommend something with customizable power cables, there less wonky and if something fails, it normally is the cord anyway, a decent one should run you 80 bucks.

i got a hybrid ssd/ hdd terabyte drive, i think i payed 80 bucks for mine.

for a cpu you can get a fine one for 200 bucks i got an intel i5. for 300 but anything with 3.4 ghz will do you just fine, just remember to make sure that your mobo has the proper chipset for amd or intel.

and ram is ram, i got 16 gbs of ram for like 90 bucks.

so that will run you under 850 i think which would leave you money for a nice gaming mouse/ razer keyboard.

if you want any help message me, i even have a mobo i could sell you that i ended up not using for like $90 dollars. its an msi z270 real pretty.

or just get an Xbox cuz PCs are expensive as hell.

I have a ps4 and want to get an Xbox (my friends can't decide on one system). I need the PC for more than gaming. I just want it to be geared for gaming.

Yeah, games tend to be a lot more optomized towards consoles now. But for not much more you can build a pc that looks better, runs better, is upgradable and can do twice as many things as a console.

Current gen i5 or 17 if u have the dough

16 or 32 gig of ram

gtx 1070

dont cheap out n a motherboard, it will fry within a few years, but im sure u knew that. The case is where u should save ur money. For a power supply go evga bronze, cheap and reliable. as for watts, id say 750 if u have the money, if not put the parts in pcpart picker to see how many watts and see which power supply can at least run ur pc. I would go with a 500gig ssd and then save a little more for a 1tb wd blue hd. A hard drive alone will run slow within a few years, thats the mistake i made.

Ive built 3 pc's and rebuilt 2 (only 2 of them were for me tho haha), but its been a while so im not too sure on the current gen for everything or pricepoints so sorry if some of the specks r whack

The absolute best you can do is what danny420 posted, here is an updated link.

If you are lucky enough to have a micro center near you that is an excellent option. I think their warranty is still no questions asked. just get a 2 year warranty on the gfx card and return the card before it expires. Then roll your credit towards a badass card, hopefully the bitcoin boom dies a bit and cards are reasonable. Plus they have a ton of knowledgeable employees who know their shit and can help you out.

good build, i just feel that since he alredy has a case, he could spend a little more on the gpu. Idk last time i checked prices they were going up (right when bc mining with mass gpu rigs was starting) so im not positive. Just a suggestion

Ah I didn’t see that, if he’s willing to stretch the budget a little bit with the cost savings maybe upgrade to an rx580 or keep the extra 70 for a better fan on the cpu to overclock later like a nocta

Rx580

Or a 1060 (within budget)

580 is good and he can prolly even find a deal on a 970. as for the fan, a hyper 212 evo is only 30 and probrably one of the better fans. If u wanna go water then its gonna run at least 120
