i found these rails and i am going to make a rail or two. i am going to cut off the bottoms of the supports. how much should i leave? how tall should i leave the rails? they are about 25-30 ft long, 3-4 ft tall. it was an old bridge and it was replaced so i am taking these.(with permission)

It all depends where you are going to set them up. If you can;t get speed to hit them as is, cut them down. If you can, leave them...Just imagine a HUGE A-FRAME 60 feet long.>DAMN! But when you cut them you could just put the legs in 5 gallon buckets of cement and them put in ground or weld on legs.

those are sick, if i were you id cut off the bottom supports so they're both one big rectangle then just put supports on the bottom of that

yup ur gonna need that to stick into the snow or ground. Using a rail about the same size in snow I had to sink in the legs and put the horizontal rail about 4 inches down. Plus if its to tall u can always cut them down.
