Come watch as skiers and riders compete on Lower Exhibition for a $5000 cash purse by making four of Mount Snow’s hardest rails into their personal play things. Competitors will begin on one large rail, choose between one of two rails, and then finish the course at the bottom with a final large rail. The music will be loud, and the competition fierce, as a jam-style format will be used to determine the “King and Queen of the Steel”. Rails are the newest and most exciting discipline on snow, so you won’t want to miss this first-time Mount Snow event.

Registration is $35.00 at the main base lodge by the clock tower. everyone be there early and session INFERNO at the carinthia base lodge which is Mount Snow's Expert Terrain Park featuring a 30 ft roller coaster, 2 down rails, flat to down kink, a big rainbow rail, and the signature l;ast 2 hits which weigh in at 72 ft into a 50 ft step down. be there.

rumor has it a ledge and staircase rail is being built, not sure if thats entirely true or not..but most likely you'll see the coaster rail among other tech rails

The course was so shadey. There was two down boxes, both had staircases built in. They were like 15-20 feet. They were about 20 feet apart from each other. Then the final rail, maybe like, 1/5 of the competitors actually got on it, not to mention greasing it. Travis killed it though, it was real dope. They really need a better set up next time around though.

today reaffirmed my belief that mount snow is a area with good intentions, but fucks up royally when it comes to this event. it was not a jam, we got one fucking run, and the course was shit (but that comes w/ every comp). if they got all this money to trhow out, they should actually make an event that showcases peoples talent. Heed did win outright, but i for one got screwed, one run in the finals is super gay and waiting till fucking 4 30 to find out that i got fucked over and to find out if i entered as a girl and slid down the course on a shovel i would have got 600 or so dollars (no offense amanda, you probably agreed with me) anyways thats my rant, feel free to email bomb Chris Menance, the events coordinator with emails saying how shitty things are run there.

he did switch onto the first box, switch off the second box, then I think he did the rail to 270 off(?) someone correct me here. You couldn't have done a blindside switch up on anything on that course, way too sketchy.

I heard travis did 270 on 270 out of the second box, gallant went down the stairs, and amanda got 600$ for being the only girl.

travis did the switch on the 1st box, then a 270 to switch off the 2nd, and did the gap to rail at the end. Viscove who got 2nd biffed on the 1st box, so just slid the 2nd box, and did a sweet gap to rail and 270ed out. the 3rd place dude i think just fell down the thing, i dont know. i also biffed and tryed to make up for it by doing a transfer over the last rail with a trick, but from what i hear they don;t score inverts in rail comps very well (super gay). Heed was the only on e who didn't fall in the finals, so he won. it's great that he won in all, but a one run final is total bullshit. as you can read, i am still pissed

Yea Travis did 270 on switch off the second box, I just looked over some of the footage I have. SAS is being ghetto now so I cant upload anything really cause the NS upload is fucking annoying as hell. I only have a few shots, it wasnt that great of a comp or anything.

As I've posted before, I'm a park ranger at Mount Snow. We built the course the morning of the event, it was pretty unorganzied and kind of last minute as several people didn't do what they were supposed to. We realized the boxes were a bit close together, but there wasn't that much we could do about it, as people started showing up and wanting to practice on it, not really giving us a chance to do any lengthy maintenance... All of us realize it didn't go off as planned, but rest assured that this will not be a season-long trait for Mount Snow. It was the first comp of the year, as well as the first rail jam we've had. Please don't let this first bad impression steer you guys away from future comps. If you have any questions about comps or the parks, feel free to post or PM me and I'll answer or at least find out an answer ASAP. Thanx

(BTW, for anyone who was there, I was the ranger w/ the Wisdoms and orange stomps)

definately an odd event...from what i heard weeks before the event, it was supposed to be a really technical, kickass setup for the jam. Unfortunately it didnt work out, but im sure it wasnt from bad intentions, just more of a first time issue

as far as amanda winning 625...good for her. What i think blows is that if she didnt win the 625...mount snow keeps it. Its not like the girls take cash from the guys. 2nd and 3rd place for skier girls was an extra 450 total, and where did that go?? Right back into the Mount Snow bank acct.

all in all, good idea from Mount Snow, and id expect it to be gigantically improved next year

josh i agree with you completely. i didn't go there sunday with the intention of even entering. didn't even bring a helmet. anthony & jeff convinced me to enter because i'd walk away with the money with no problem. i do think its kinda shitty but hey i'll take it instead of snow keeping it. if mt snow divided up the money that went to the girls division and gave it to the guys i'd never enter. obviously you boys deserve it more than me when it comes to talent. next time i see you i'll buy you a beer ok josh.

as for the rest of the competition. the set-up was sketchy. the boxes were too close together and the last rail was crooked i believe. i, like about 40 others entered, never took a practice run because it was soo damn crowded during the hour warm up and they kept closing stuff to fix it.

guys in the am division gotta screwed over when others that fell made it to the finals when there were 2 kids that did their runs clean and didn't.

finals sucked....one run is crappy for the guys. curry needs to get rid of his marker bindings...if it wasn't for then he would've won money.

best was at the end. one of the park rangers of maybe it was chris minnes that said 'oh well after one or two more of these comps we'll have it down right.' problem is this comp only goes down once a year.

why on earth would anyone seperate guys from girls in a rail jam... i don't think that guys or girls have any specific gender-based advantages in sliding down metal pipes on skis.

All you guys with suggestions and constructive comments, please PM them to me or email them to me (Longbow727@aol.com). The more I get, the more I can give back to the groomers for suggestions. Also if you guys have suggestions for any of the parks, please do the same.
