yeah I'm sorta buddist, my dad sorta is...its weird but can be cool...its hard to be an all out buddist though

Why do you guys say, 'I have to take a shit' when you just leave it there?' JF learning english

We should start a religion where all you gotta do is ski everyday and drink at night and find hot chicks, that'd be sick.

yeah Phattism. But really I'm more interested in Doug's attempt at making a Tangerine religion. Im sure Tele-Jibber would write that bible for you.

Buddhism is one of the most peaceful, and most logical religions in the world. I have seen buddhism in practice in Tibet pretty extensively, and I have discussed it with scholars as well as done a good deal of reading on the faith. I dont call myself a buddhist, but I do agree with a great deal of the teachings and any religion that so strongly emphasizes non-violence and peace and harmony with nature and all beings is good in my book. Fully practicing and conpletely devoted buddhists spend literally their entire lives praying, meditating, and journeying to holy sites. In parts of the world where people strictly practice buddhism it is just an incredible show of devotion and quite admirable to see.

'There are only two powers in the world...the sword of the oppressor and the spirit of the oppressed. In the long run, the sword is always defeated by the spirit.'

I think the best thing about it is that they don't try to explain God. It makes perfect sense why try to explain something that we will never be able to comprehend. So they look within themselves.

yah exactly. Buddhism is peaceful. They don't encourage conflict, not even in the name of their religion. I respect their devotion a lot also.

Yah...buddhism is definitly cool...you gotta respect them.

I think you only need 12 people to start an official religion in canada. I think....that could've just been a rumour at school a few years back....i think people were trying to organize a religion that was against homework or something dumb like that..

Buddhism is pretty cool

-4 great truths of Buddhism

1. Life is pain and suffering

2. Pain and suffering is caused by desires

3. Stop desires, thus stopping pain and suffering

4. To stop desires, follow 'The Noble Eightfold Path'

-Nirvana is Buddha's word for release from pain and selfishness

-Buddah means 'enlightened one'

-Buddhism emphasizes:

1. Meditation

2. Brotherhood

3. Chastity

4. Preservation of life

Have an exam tomarrow that includes Buddhism, that's how I know that.

i am not really a buddhist my the book, but read teaching of buddha quite a bit. The great thing is that they try to make relegion by contact between you, god, and nature, not everything else that could screw it up. They leave it personal too, and i think that all relegion should be a one on one thing.

Anyone catch the Simpsons sunday?

Yeah, zen buddisim is where its at. I'm not religious, but i try to live in a way that reflect the buddist metality (not completely mind you, I like a good slab 'o back bacon as much as the next Canuck). But I do belive that there is more stength and wisedom in yielding than in aggression and forcefulness. You should all get into martial arts, there's alot of cool stuff in there (just don't join some flashy-ass 500-member school; the smaller and harder to find probably the better). Yeah, the ability to choose peace is the greatest strength of all.

yeah, it's got a lot of good issues that it brings up aye. Is Nirvana like when reincarnation is complete and you have done 'full circle' and now complete and perfect??

~~Phunkin' Phatt Phreerider~~

well it's like that in Hinduism but for Buddhists they believe that you attain Nirvana in this life and then you are always going through the cycle of rebirth.

I saw a 2 buhdists in washington dc last spring. It was kind of strange because they were both bald, i think they were men but i cant be sure, and they walked really slow and with their eyes closed.
