questions? contact me

Tempting for sure. I don't slide enough stuff to enter a jam but the free shit they give you for registering sounds worth it alone.

For sure. There were heats last year that got narrowed down to the finals, so no worries, its a really good scene. I am telling you, this event is waaaaaay under the radar. honestly, I would like to sort of keep it that way, for personal reasons.

Personal reasons?? What are you gonna try and take first or something papa?? jk Ya I'll have to get in a park in the next few weeks and see how comfortable I am, I don't wanna sign up just to eat shit a couple times in front of a bunch of people. Although that still would be pretty worth it, I wanna check out sno this year too so maybe I'll sign up just for the ticket. Are those bonus gifts a definite thing?

bonus gifts are guaranteed...although probably best if you at least show up during check-in to claim them.

the only chance you take by waiting is getting shut out.

we got at least 6 registrations overnight last night with more coming in during the day and are quickly approaching the cut off number.

not that i want to encourage people to register and then not compete but if you think you might want to compete, i suggest you register sooner rather than later.

fyi, think we are up to about 10 skiers registered as of now. that makes the odds of winning pretty good so far.

the contest is definitely dominated by boarders. (in shear numbers anyway!)

Unless you ski park like I do. It's been a while since I slid anything that's for sure. I might wait till the end of the weekend and maybe try to get up to bear creek to fine tune the skills a bit. I don't wanna take somebody's spot if I don't have a chance in hell of winning it.

hmmmm when does registration close? and how many skiiers are you letting in? I will go if Im in PA i might still go out to CO for the Aspen Open but if not Ill be therrrrr

To answer a couple of questions:

registration will close when we reach just over 100 competitors. (we are approaching 70 as of this morning)

we will take as many skiers as we get until we reach our 100+ competitor limit.

at this point we are at about 15 skiers.

there is also a female combined (ski & board) category if anyone is interested but doesn't want to be in the male dominated open category!

urban rail set up:

the scaffolding tower was (and will be) 18' tall and about 12' wide.

we will be bringing in about 8 tri-axle dump truck loads of snow.

we will also have the ability this year to make snow onsite courtesy of a "Backyard Blizzard".

we have purchased a case of Ski Trax tiles to eliminate the issues we had last year with keeping snow on the top of the ramp (you will see what i mean in the video links below).

we will have 2 side by side features with the course ending with a wall hit of some sort. one of the features will probably be a C-box. last year the flat box was most popular. i will let you know when the exact features have been finalized.

check out these 2 videos from last year's competition

quick

edit of competition

time

lapse of set up day (from the roof of our store)

last year we were in the parking lot of our Mongtomeryville store. this year we have substantially more space in the King of Prussia Mall parking lot.

hope this helps!

I don't know if I should enter, I can ride almost any box, except c, Blue doesn't have there's set up yet so I haven't hit it, and I can ride rails but have never tries handrails(urban shit)... just the simple rails at boulder and blue(haven't tried kinked). I can also spin on flat boxes if the gap isn't huge. Is it worth it or will I get straight up embarassed?

you will have the choice between a C-box and a Flat-Down rail

it will be a good time regardless of how you do. there will lots of giveaways for the competitors and spectators.

and besides, just for registering online and showing up you get a pair of Skullcandy earphones and a Snö Mtn lift ticket.

What type of rail, single barrel. double barrel, or flat? Just wondering because like the dude above I don't want to come and get shit on even if there is free stuff

Just sign up and rep the skiers man. You know how many bogus boarders are out there that think they are the shit but need to get smacked by the reality train? I'm registered, and I never do rail jams, and honestly am not really that into rails in general when I'm skiing around. I rarely spin onto or off of rails, and would consider myself the worst rail hitter out of all my friends. I just heard the vibe was a real good time at this jam, and want to support Johnny for gettin' something like this rolling, so I signed up. Its a chance in hell I'd place or come close to, but its all about the hang out and supporting my buddies on boards and skis who have a chance at winning some skrillions.

Do i have to register with a credit card or can I pay that day, if credit card, I need to talk to my mom... but I am def thinking about entering

thanks for the support T*maki!

to answer the above question:

you do need a credit card to register online - sorry!

and the way it's going I'm not sure there will be on-site registration the day of.

we will probably be full before the event.

about needing to get a ride from the poconos - there are a bunch of competitors registered from up that way. spread the word i am sure someone can give you a ride!

yo, how many are registered, I;m going to try and sign up tonight, and also... what type of rail, single, double barrel, or sqaure rail. Also, my feriends think I am going to get laughed at when I get shit on, what do you think?

registrations are pushing 75 with about 15 of them skiers. we are cutiing it off at 100 so get registered asap.

(we have been averaging 5 per night so at that rate we will be done by the 8th give or take with no on-site registrations available)

the flat-down is going to be something in between a rail and a box (like the one we had last year). wider than a true rail but narrower than a box.

to take a look at last years set up and to view the video visit www.buckmans.com/railjam08.aspx

i can take care of just about every aspect of the event but there isn't not much i can do about you getting laughed at!

flat down rail....now you're talkin!

big ups to johnny for gettin this together. Last year's was so much fun and it should be even better this year w/ our own divison. There was so much product toseed last year, that i seriously think everyone got a little something, even spectators. I'm super stoked for this event, and since it's at KOP, i'm sure there'll be a good turn out of audience.

Word..........

What the hell is wrong with you east coast park skiers? I am back from 2 trips west and the skiers represent so hard out there. This is a really good event. enter it, you will not be sorry that you did.

Boarders really rule these events anyway! We have about 60 boarders signed up.

But no worries Papa, we got about 15 skiers.

I thought there would be more skiers but hey, I guess the skiers in the region are more talk than action! ;-)

With the skier division being added this year I thought the skiers wouldn't have to be so worried about the boarders showing them up but I guess some are still scared. ;-)

Based on the overall numbers, registration will be closing early next week. We are over 75 and won't take more than 100. On-site registration probably won't be available unless we decide we want to fill out specific divisions. At this point we are a little light on the Grommet(12 and under) and Female divisions so we MAY offer On-site registration for those divisions only.

Hey hold on there, I'm just bustin on you guys!

I'm happy with 15 - 20 skiers. Yhat way we will have a single skiers qualifying heat and a separate skier finals. Top 10 skiers will make the finals.

Yeah, I'm still scared, I was working the single barrels all weekend but I don't have the balls to enter my first comp.

Hey Hey Now,

Chill out there Papa, I'll bet while you were out west you saw some f-ing snow too, it's hard to get stoked on a jam with 60's and rain for the past week. I never claimed to be a park skier in the first place, hell I've only been out three times this year and one of em was holding my gf's hand on the ice cube that was the bunny slope over at Bear Crap.

Now, with that said, my ass is registered and I'll see you fools there for my headphones, free sno ticket, and possible broken bones. Anybody still contemplating registration has got to look better than me out there, SO SIGN UP SUCKAAAAS!!!

I'll see you guys in the parking lot on the 23rd.

ps. thanks for that little bit of extra motivation papa.

F it dude sign up, I'll give ya a ride if ya need one, hell I'll let ya borrow a nut if your a little short on cajones. At the very least you'll get to meet the famous papasteeze mod of the century.

better yet.. lets mug the guy who wins and spend his money at the mall! it's a lot of dough being tossed around.

big air what? at rt oh joy. are you going to have any snow left matt or will run make you groom down the jumps to fil snow in the tubing area.?

Just got 95% confirmation that.....

Atomic is bringing

Daron Rahlves

into town for our Rail Jam!

Not sure yet if he will ride the rails (which he likes doing) but he definitely will be hanging out signing autographs and mingling!

Will have 100% confirmation later in the week!

If you're not competing make sure you at least come hang out for a few hours. We will have 20+ vendor tents, 4 radio stations (WMMR, WMGK, WRFF, FrankFM), loads of giveaways, DJ BigYoungMike and snowboarding legend Mike Estes as our MC for the day!

Gotta give it to ya. Maybe Papa will quit his whining about there being no good events in the area. Can't wait for the 23rd!

PS. What are registration numbers at as of right now? I wanna know what to tell people up at Blue...

63 open snowboard

13 open ski

4 female combined

3 grommet combined

83 total

the divisional numbers might be off a little but they are close. there were a few females who signed up for the open snowboard category before we added the female division who wanted to switch.

looks like once we reach 100 we will close the online registration. for On-Site registration we will probably only accept grommet and female division competitors to round out those divisions.

for the qualifying rounds: we will do all the skiers as 1 heat. we will do the female and grommet divisions as 1 heat and then divide the snowboard division into about 4 heats.

for the finals we will do the females and grommets as 1 finals round, the skiers will have their own finals, and the snowboarders will have their own finals round.

see you in KOP on the 23rd!

really sounds like you got your shit together man. that's awesome, and really good to see around here. with only 13 skiers so far, how many make the finals?? are you still thinking 10 with only 13 total?

I would expect in the next couple of days to get the skier # up to 15+.

So right now I'm gonna say we will stick to the Top 10.

If for some reason we don't add any skiers we will consider taking all 13 to the finals.

people from Ohio aren't allowed. just kidding, why not the jib academy at Appalachain?

Not much competition down there.

$30

and you get a free pair of Skullcandy ear phones + a Snö Mtn lift ticket

there's going to be a C-box and a Flat-Down rail to choose from finishing with a wall hit.

as of this morning we are at 89 competitors. only 11 spots remain and then registration will be shut down!

don't wait as we probably won't make it past Monday or Tuesday before registration closes.

Well, we have reached 100 competitors!!!!!

The online

registration will be closed down tonight so there are a few hours left

to sneak in if you haven't done so yet. After that no more online

registrations.

As far as On-Site registrations:

We will ONLY accept Grommet Combined (12 and under) and Female Combined.

On-site registration will begin at 1pm on Saturday the 23rd and will

close at 2pm. Again, NO Open division On-site registrations will be

accepted!

All competitors will receive an e-mail by the end of

the week (2/15) with details about the 23rd. Do not show up to compete

without your signed liability release or without your parents (to sign

a new one) with you if you are under 18.

Just had final walk

through with the Mall Management this morning and we are actually going

to have a little more space than we expected. Things are shaping up

nicely.

See you on the 23rd!
