Buckeye Sports Center = Worst Ski Shop

BSC could just be the worst ski shop in North America ....they sell bass boats most of the year and during our short season.. they try their hardest to appear knowledgeable on everything snowsports related.... I call to see if they have a duke/baron jig since they are a marker retailer....they say they do ....when i get there and go to mount skis .....no jig ...suprise suprise... the only shop that makes you pay before mounting .........ask tons of questions cause they would have free handed my blends.......Stay as far away from this place as possible ...or better yet take your stuff to Snowtrails ....were there are no wanna be ski techs

Getting anything accomplished at that store is like pulling teeth. In the 15 years that I have been skiing I have never once left that place feeling like they had a clue what they were doing. That covers everything from cutting down ski poles to operating a cash register.

 
yeah dude just go to ASB they know what they are talking about and will always steer you in the right direction... plus they probably sell more legit stuff then any other shop around
 
one guy there tried to say that the a frames were better because the frame was curved like an eye ball.

go to boston mills equipment service. that place knows whats up.
 
Kudos to Snow Trails shop and also Kudos for Boston Mills.
Snow Trails hooked me up with a boot fitter that was just awesome. Fixed my boys boots right up and he can make some really good foot beds. Shop folks know their stuff !
I gave Boston Mills a project a couple of days ago that is 4frnt binding on wholey (drilled a few times tele) ski to mount. They will have to watch old holes to make mount and I specified a couple cm's forward. Sorta nice to be able to go check on them through process. Should be interesting set up for me, Alpine after 25 years.
 
No, we can mount Duke/Barron/Jester/Griffon.

And there is ALWAYS the option to pay before/after the mounting, or any services that we offer. That is why the work tickets have a "Paid in Full" line, and a "Due" line.

your one of the tools that work there ...haha ...yeah of course you can mount them but they come out like shit ...using that paper jig ....
 
hahah you can't really be defending a 'ski shop' that sells bass boats and fucking lures in the summer can you ?? ski and sport haus has you guys so beat among numerous other stores around the area.
 
i'm glad you're stoked on our slightly unorthodox way of running things down here. it's good to be appreciated.
 
in all seriousness i don't think there's been a time i've been down there and not been offered a 'drink' in less than 60 seconds of walking into the store. so damn legit.
 
In no way am i defending BSC. I am just correcting the mistake that was made in the first post.

And i absolutely LOVE Geigers. I would be working there, after they offered me a job numerous times, if i wasnt so far away from it.
 
what is a "NS gear adviser" is that like a floor sales rep at buckeye who gets to take the paper out of the toe on all new boots so idiots dont try them on with the paper in them and be like gee u need bootfitting (upsell) .....but instead you just throw in you $.02 every where on newschoolers until you get like 476,973 posts that are completely meaningless bullshit that no one reads and you just chime in about it cause thats what you heard at SIA or excuse me the buckeye sales floor , or better yet sunday dinner at Mr. Armingtons house. -Victor there is learned and then there is the professor ....class dismissed!
 
Scott loves the new wide boards... you can fit way more lines of cocaine on them when they are flipped over.

Buckeye reminds me of a fraternity house- the only people that stick up for them are the members (in this case employees).
 
its in chesterland btw. i worked there all last winter. ferdl kept taking my sales from me and then would tell me right after that i never sell anything haha, he would take over at the register and take my sales. i didnt really care, the basement was my spot tuning and mounting skis and boards. love that shop though, they are the most legit in my opinion.
 
Paul, I am not sure why you just have such a hate for me, but I don't really care.

And I am not defending BSC in any way. I am just pointing out a few mistakes in your first post.

And i would really rather go to Geigers if i had to buy retail, but for any of my outerwear needs, i go to Martini Skate + Snow.
 
Yeah, I meant chesterland. For some reason I always get the two confused. Ferdl has been in the same spot for as long as I can remember. They don't have the biggest selection of things in the area. But I can't say it enough, chris more than makes up for that. They have also never fucked up any of my or my families mountings.
 
Buckeye sucks. so does BMBW.

today i went up to bwine with my friend from utah who is home for break so he doesnt have a pass. luckily i bought a summit pass last year when it was cheap so i had that and then i got a job at buckeye so i had my shop pass too. so i let my friend use the pass i bought while i used the buckeye pass. Some lady at the window called my friend out about the pass not being his so she took us to this guy in the information office who then decided that he would void both my pass i bought and my shop pass. then he said he was gonna call my boss from buckeye. so then i went to work at 4 today and left at 4:45 cause i got fired. all cause this kid used my pass. that i bought.

didn't you kind of answer your own question? i've never been to a ski shop elsewhere that sells sparkly bass boats and an array of lures in the summer and then tries to pass themselves off as a legit ski shop when the snow falls. then again they are a SPORTS CENTER so maybe they're just way ahead of the times.

either way, the fact that i had to explain to the very nice blonde girl in a pink north face that 'bump' skis were mogul skis a few years ago kind of tipped me off that i should check out other shops .. she pointed out some lovely twin tips for me though. and that was nice.
 
that sucks so badly man. i know it doesn't help but next time if you ever get in that situation take one pass to one window, and another pass to another window, doing it yourself both times. i definitely think firing you is a little extreme to say the least ... specially since you were just trying to help out a friend. it's not like you were selling your tickets in the parking lot for heroine money.

and victor you know they are shitty and that only about you and dave know shit about the equiptment, fuckn A a man named scott that has 4 & 1/2 chins and a major alcohol problem works as a boot fitter. he needs to be in a insane asylum. they let me go because of over staffying about 6 weeks after starting work but keep 4 kids that have never skiied or snowboarded and 1 girl who problem is mentally retarded or just slow. personally i wont be buying anything other then gloves from them or jsut takeing them on a account they have no security system and no way of knowing. they only buy the cheapest gear and i know this cause i worked there and stocked the back room. the reason they have lib tech or gnu is because one of the managers not even a share holder in the business took it upon herself to get gnu to come in. even then your better off going anywhere else considering they have enough fischer and k2 skis for every kid on the hill to have them.

and chip are you the one who was steezyn today without poles and just thrown down smooth lines and occasionally hitting the ice patch and spinning on dude ranch? with out poles of course?
 
shit howd i forget about how 2 weeks ago i droped off my skis to get them mounted to center from 2 from true and the smart clerk didnt write down center so they just did a binding adjust even tho i clearly checked remount, and by binding adjust they just turn down my din, so i had to drop off my skis for another 3 days to get them mounted to center which i think is still off a little bit
 
well we did go to different windows it would have been obvious if we went to the same one but the lady my friend went to had to be connected with the devil some way cause she just straight up said "this isnt you."
 
Victor , i don't have ANY hate for you, seeing as though i dont know you, you dont know me, and i have no intention of ever skiing or talking to you ...but what i do Know is that you and EVERYONE that works a BSC other then pete, and the sprockhoffs are IDIOTS, and should not be skiing or even selling or talking about equipment, let alone mounting it...and you need to talk about, comment, or point out a few mistakes to the tune of ^74,734 posts is so retarted... when i think you have no ski knowledge ..peace
 
First off Tyler you didn't check remount at all. You didn't even tell the "smart" clerk (Margaret) to even center mount them. You later texted her that night, after she had left work and told her to make it center mounted. How is that BSC's fault? Anyways, K2 silencers don't even need to be center mounted.
 
thanks pat but not all of us can sell weed and drop acid and make as much money as you to buy "sick" gear, so go nosepress for me and dont forget that even if i told margaret theres about a 43.7263% chance she is gonna respond and write it down. nothing against her at all shes cool but pat its buckeye, alright well have fun with life

p.s. i dunno who is who on here vs. on the hill but to the group of kids in jiberish hoodies who were out a few days ago together doing some filming, i didn't get a chance to catch up to you guys but i was telling pete drago from jiberish about all their gear i was seeing on the hill and he was really really stoked to hear the news, specially since he's from this area. he told me to tell all of you that they really appreciate the support more than you can imagine and that he's stoked kids are excited about that kind of stuff around here! just thought you'd want to know that your money you're spending is appreciated by actual people, not just blindly accepted!

as i mentioned above i usually dont have poles in the park and i'm always in a white oakley jacket with green oakley pants, black capix helmet with a jiberish sticker on it, and am on last year's AR6's. come say hey if you want, always cool riding with new people.
 
yeah those were the kids filming and the ones that weren't allowed to ski the other day.

and the table was up but the jump itself was sticky as shit so it kinda threw everyone off. that and it was the day after new years.

oh and abner if you ever need a pass hit me or darren up. we have employee passes, and darren has some instructor passes.
 
yah i was out tonight for a couple hours and the inrun was really sticky, i could see that jump being fun with more speed tho. still leaps and bounds ahead of anything i can remember in bmbw history
 
Just heads up to anyone, if you see me out on the hill, I'm usually out at bmills. Black helmet with a big Voleurz sticker on the side and then all black gear with Octolands. Gimme a holler!
 
Abner what hes saying is that take your pass yourself to both windows. like get one, go give it to your friend, come back to a different window use the other. i've been doin it with mine for 2 yrs!...

as for buckeye it sucks for real. i mean i work at mills so i get a discount at buckeye but they wont let me use it on the boats! shits fucked up!!!

well first off, you are an idiot, because the sprockhoffs do not work there anymore ( however I will agree with you because they are both really smart knowledgeable people). Now obviously you haven't talked to everyone there. I am quite aware that there are some high school kids that work at Buckeye that arent the best at their jobs, but thats beside the point. While BSC does sell alot of boats, and I know that our shop isnt the most "core" or "cool" shop run by a bunch of aged out stoners that hook you up with "sweet shit dude" but i can flat out guarantee you that there are some really good people that work there. You arent the most knowledgable ski person in the universe, and i would be surprised if you could come in and really stump alot of us that work there, because a membership at newschoolers doesnt qualify you as an expert. And as far as Victor goes, I am his coworker and I can guarantee you he knows his shit. And until you get a full certification in ski teching like our techs do (only two people work on skiis there, its not like some 16 year old kid is back there mounting). By the way, you live in ohio, so dont get an ego about skiing, because you just come off as an asshole. Maybe you should just go skiing, and go to whatever shop you enjoy the most, that gives you the best service to whatever your measureing it by. Im pretty sure since BSC sells about 10 times more than any other shop in ohio, its not worried about some kid who thinks he knows everything anyhow, because trust me, there is nothing more annoying than some kid coming in, arguing with you, just trying to prove he knwos more about skiing than you. Get Over Yourself.

 
I think I stated quite awhile ago that the only people defending this dump are those who work there.

Selling skis is not a year round job in Ohio, I understand that and wouldn't discount them for it. Maybe they know their trolling motors but I think we are only talking about the skiing side of things.
Your techs are morons... Scott has been a shit head since he worked at the Viking. Do you even know what that means?
Anyone who hasn't been in there go in and play dumb with them about getting a ski package... see what sort of ill fitting boots and 60 inch poles they will send you out the door with.
