hey, i heard a rumor that Big Sky was moving their Park...just seeing if anyone knows anything about it.

i think they should cuz its way steep right now i just dont know where else they would put it

haven't heard anything about this. i would guess it will stay in the same place, just cuz thats where they have the half pipe cut into the ground. but ireally dont know.

They should move it to southern comfort, but I don't think they're going to. We discussed this sometime a while ago, but I forget the reasoning as to why they couldn't. I don't see why the current spot is bad, but then again I don't really ski it all that much.

I would gain some respect for Big sky if they moved it to soco. that wouls really give it flow rather than bomb feature to feature.

yeah a park on comfort would be a lot better than where it is now, even though i guess they could just leave the pipe and put everything else somewhere else. and it better open earlier this year than it has in years past im tired of hitting all that shit under swifty till like mid january when it finnaly opens, does anyone know if they r gonna try to expedite things a little this year

great point, what the f^$k is up with the January park shit. No word on speeding it up, I will check it out.

a dcent jump and a jib park serves about 10 skiers, the real park needs to be up by Christmas if you ask me. However, the parks in CO and UT are getting pretty late too, Breck didn,t get there's up til December last year.

yeah really fun if u like 10 foot jumps and short rails, the only good part about it was the thing at the very end with the barrel that if u hit really fast u could make it over the rope and land in the next run over, and thats not even what it was meant for, does anyone know what im talkin bout

if yer talking about the swifty park, then i know what yer talking about. i always saw people jump the rope there, though never tried it myself.

What I didn't get last year: Not enough speed for the biggest and first table, and way too much momentum for the rest of the jibs until the halfpipe. However, their jib park under the lift was fun to play in, it had some cool stuff in it.

again, well said, the momentum was so shifty. Either bombing too hard of can't get the speed needed. I did like the jib park, the hit to hit with the roller was fun.

We can only dream that Boyne would treat us like Aspen skiing company or interwest treats their skiers. Boyne is worse but Big SKy is better.

well then thats it, they would never want a customer to be happy, so no SoCo. Now they know how to piss us off for another year.

I found out that they are thinking about it (soco) but it may get built even later, I guess they are working on how to get it up.

Yes.

And, sadly, it seems big sky's already on its way to becoming another vail or aspen, but there's still hope.

Any one know if the Rust jam is invite only again?

and any word on any other jam or anything going down in the greater Bozeman/big sky area?

And yea.. movin the BS park somewhere else would be much better.... but the bowl area is too flat light all the time...

but beside that, the pipe needs more pitch... cant keep speed past two hits

Big SKy cannot become like Vail or Aspen, it isn't that sunny or warm in Dec. Feb. or Jan. People (tourists) like the sun and heat, Montana is too cold for anyone but east coasters and Minnesotans. The southern and midwesterners like CO and Utah, and that won't change. I hate to point this out too but the hard core big mountain community knows how overrated Big SKy moonlight is, no matter what freeskier says. Big SKy cannot even compete with Jackson, Aspen, and Snowbird/Alta/Brighton when it comes to tough lines and big drops. Even Bridger trumps the sky in technicality, The Big is only a great run if you are first and the little is a nightmare, so they really shouldn't count. Sorry for the rant but after skiing here for six years I am just sick of Big SKy's rep, love it for the park.

dude i cant wait till i get out there for good, might be going to msu bozeman, but also applied to boulder, so we will see does anyone know which one has the better architecture school?

I am a jackass, just called big sky while writing 2007 MT terrain park preview, RUST is invite, they said areas best riders. Whatever that means???

This is how RUST works: The known riders (usually the ones that have placed well in previous big sky contests) are automatically invited. And then there is a qualifier for anyone. I think they take the top two or three from the qualifier. And there you have it.

The hard core big mountain people usually aren't buying multi-million dollar houses, but semi-idealistic out of staters looking for a special piece of Montana are. And the big houses and sprawl are what make Aspen and Vail what they are. Big Sky's near to Yellowstone, a main tourist attraction, and thus has the potential, and some space to get A LOT bigger.

Evtic, you should try to dig up some info about big sky's new features and park crew and if they will be stepping anything up this year. I think that would make an interesting article.

I am kinda on hold, I am writing a montana terrain park preview soon, I need the f&%cking park crews to get to the mountains first, Red lodge, Big Mnt. and Big Sky all have told me to wait a couple weeks so i can talk to someone who actually know anything.
