Broken Skis

my frickin troublemakers edge snapped right under my binding this year. im so pissed, leave it to dynastar to make the least durable ski out there. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it up.

Most ski company's will send you a new pair if you break them.

I know rossignol and salomon do it, not sure about other company's

Dude, of course the edges break when you slide rails. That's not warrantyable and there is no such thing as a ski that will hold it's edges in if you're sliding rails. In my opinion Dynastar makes the most structurally solid ski out there, I've seen troublemakers used for 3 seasons on water ramps without snapping or delaminating while most other skis won't last half a season without bubbles. That being said Dynastars have notoriously weak edges and bases.

my tms snapped like halfway through my first day of ramping. but they were old, and i guess all the old ones with the chameleon graphic snap pretty easy, while the newer ones work like champs. as far as skiing without a chunk of edge, it should be fine, just make sure the spot where the edge pulled out isn't dragging. and if you're worried about it catching, add some epoxy or something in the spot where the edge was

I snapped both my scratch pros and rossi refused to give me new ones, i hate rossi now, i will never buy their skis again.

If you ripped a small amount of edge (less than 6 inches) you can get it repaired. Basically they will cut a piece of replacement edge, screw it in and base weld the ski. This will probably take a shop guy like 45 minutes or more and the shop is going to charge you about 60-80 bucks.

Or, what I would suggest. Cut your base out, hammer your edge till it's straightish, screw it back in, get some 24 hour 5000 pound epoxy and clamp it. Then just sand it down. Or just cut the edge/base and fill with epoxy (this will fall out relatively quickly though).

Dynastar won't do shit for warrantywise. Their skis are fun, but their durability is absolute garbage. If you ride moderately hard you are going to blow an edge/sidewall in less than 5 days.

you mean you abused your skis and the company said "we won't replace them"? wow what a bunch of assholes.

just because you fucked up your shit does not mean the company is responsible. why should they replace them?

listen up children, warranty is to protect the consumer against MANUFACTURING DEFECTS not you beating the shit out of your gear. cracked/pulled out edges are inherent when silding rails. get over it, shit breaks and you're stuck replacing it.

Yeah, i supose your right, but i still hate them, i emailed them and there only response was No, it had no explination or anything, just No.

If you actually fix stuff on your skis they last longer.

And there are no park skis that last for 2 seasons if you are skiing them hard. You can get 50 days at most out of park ski and that is being gentle and taking good care of them.

i think im gonna apoxy a plastic guard on to it just because its such a small area. Just so it doesnt rip apart my base.
