Broken pivot heel piece

My pivot 12 heel piece broke and has this big crack in it. Can i still ride it like this? If not can I replace it with a pivot 18 heel piece I have or does it have to be another pivot 12 heel piece that i replace it with?

Pivot heels are the same, just different springs. I’ve swapped back and forth between 14s and 18s multiple times

if you want matching 12 heels just unscrew the spring housing from the base plate on both the 12 and the 18, put the 12 on the good base plate from the 18 set. unscrew the bad baseplate from the ski with a screwdriver by hand. take the good baseplate now with the 12 spring housing and screw the new heel piece into the existing holes with the screwdriver by hand until completely tight. make sure to use wood glue and try and line up the threads of the screws as best you can. I've done this to a pair of slats 3 times (w/o glue), a pair of edollos, and a pair of revisions and have never had the binding rip out on me or spun the screw. hmu if you have any questions

thank you! I'm going to try this

OP there was a recall for Pivots not long ago for heel pieces coming "loose". Check with your shop/Look to see if it was an affected binding.

while this was related to the rivets of the dildo, you may luck out in getting a new heel piece as part of the recall. We've also seen the plate that holds the two screws in break as well.

Going to piggyback on this with a similar but slightly different question. Plastic part of my FKS 140 heel broke off, is this problematic enough to fix?

That separate part is not serviceable. You would need a new full heel piece. Given that its the plastic surrounding forward pressure indicator only i wouldnt worry too much about it. all the release functionality is in the dildo and the arms and the binding mounts via the four screws in front of that piece in the turntable section

What do you mean by not serviceable? Sure a shop wouldn't fix it for you but you could definitely swap out that part yourself if you have an extra one laying around. Although I agree it's not really necessary.

what i meant was im not sure Look would send just that black plastic part to a consumer for them to try and replace it themselves.
