my friend recently broke his lower femur(sp?) how long do you think it will be before he is able to be active. He goes into surgury in a few days to get a screw put in

it's femur? not for months a good 4 months. poor kid, that would probably be the most painful bone to break.

 
yeah that sux i broke my arm in half literally and i have been out of commision for 2 months and i have a week and a half left also i had to get plates and screws in my arm very shitty but you get an ass load of drugs hope he gets better

i broke my arm twice. the first time it was bent at a 45 degree angle and the second time i fucked it up. it's bent now and i can't fully move my wrist anymore. i'm getting it fixed in august

I broke both my tibia and fibula (bones in lower leg) a couple of years ago. I snapped both of them in half. It was about 5 months before I could run on it again, but I never really had any more problems with it (aching, pain, re-break). When your friend gets better, his leg will be really weak for quite a while.

i called his parents and he was lying on his livingroom floor with a pin in his leg and he has to be in a wheelchair for a while.

my friend split his shin in two vertically, from the knee to the ankle off the pussiest jump, anyways he was bed ridden for 3 months and took a full 6 to heal

 
i broke my leg late last year, fib and tib, pretty much snapped in half. Its about 8 weeks before you can get backed into regular things. He wont be able to do any serious skiing (jumps etc) for 12 months. Im not sure if its the same for him but thats how it is for me and im still recovering......chin up

Er...lower femur? Its just the femur dude, there isn't a lower one. Anyway, i broke mine and had it plated and screwed, i was out for about 9 months, then skied on it for about 4 months, then had the plates out and was off for another 3 months-ish. Im all good now though. How'd he do it?

i broke my femur a few years ago, i did it in january and was better by september. that's....nine months. it was shitty.

the lower part of his femur is what i ment. He was playing soccer and ran into or tripped over the goalie and landed wrong, im not to clear on the details.

that would suck. My buddy broke his leg after he blew up on the bottom section of our mogul course. he snapped it on the 2x4 that held the infared timing thing. ouch to the max
