Broken Jaws?

Anyone else had any experience with this?

I just had my mouth wired shut today. For 6 weeks I will have to talk with teeth clenched and will be feeding myself liquid or blended meals through a syringe. So yeah I'm pretty bummed about this and I'm just looking for tips on getting through this from anyone who has gone through this, knows people who have gone through this, or just has some inspiring words of wisdom to share.

Thanks NS

man + vibes to you, i dont even want to initiate talking about weight, certain delicious foods, etc. may i asked what happened to cause this?

i've had similar consequences while having tonsils out and about 3 years ago i got in a bad quad accident, flipped over handle bars, quad bounced on top of me after i landed and rode over me. lost a tooth, 17 stitches in lip, fractured jaw, and chipped 3 others. i was bleed perFUSELY until the following morning when i had oral surgery to remove the jammed tooth from a blood vessel in my mouth. worse-pain-ever.

my jaw could barely move to bite into yogurt for weeks. luckily, my dad owns a restaurant so i was basically drinking mashed potatoes, milkshakes, soup, etc. but if you have to use a syringe...im not sure on how much variety you can get. you sipping through the syringe THROUGH your teeth? fuuuck.

6 weeks wil fly by and youll get used to your new eating habits soon enough and might find a leak to get some better foods in your stomach. and once the 6 weeks are over, i guarantee you you will re-gain your lost weight and then some so dont trip.

good luck

What happened was me and my friends were trying this sortof assisted-backflip type trick where a friend grabs each arm at my hand and elbow and they toss me while i jump into a backflip, (I can post a vid of a successful one from my friends phone when i get it) I had done it 50 times before and had never fallen but something just went horrible wrong and i fell flat on my face, split my chin open, chipped a bunch of teeth and found out a day later that my jaw was broken.

Its a big plastic syringe with a rubber tube on the end that i put to the back of my cheek and suck the food through the hole behind my molars. I just had my first meal and tried it with mashed potatoes and gravy which actually tasted really good, but just drinking soup through my teeth was waay more convenient.

Thanks for the help i really really appreciate it

A douche at my school got "reconsturctive surgery" on his neck, for some reason, his jaw was wired shut and he also didnt have a cleft chin anymore so he got plastic surgery. but he had drink through a straw and shit.. I lol'd because the kid couldnt yell in class and was originally a pain in the ass. but it sucks that you broke your jaw man. +vibes.

check my threads. I had mine broke on halloween and had it shut for 6 weeks. Im not going to lie, its miserable. However the first week is the worst. You will start to get used to it. I basically stuck with mashed potatoes and gravy. Instant breakfast, ensures, lots of juice. I found that blending food just tastes like shit. I dont know if they gave you a little cookbook but if they did, i wouldnt even waste my time. food is not the same when it is all blended together. Mashed potatoes and gravy was my breakfast lunch and dinner for 6 weeks. If i were you, just smoke a lot of weed and do things to keep your mind off of it. I was still skiing with mine wired shut. Good luck man. How did you break it??

Basically i was trying this trick with my friends and it went horribly wrong. I landed right on my face on a wood floor

Man that really sucks.. I broke my Jaw in 4 places in January and lost 3 teeth .claim. i now have a titanium rod screwed in. It was by far the worst injury ive ever had just try to drink and eat as much as possible even tho you might not want to. I also highly recomend you go to the beach if you have one and just chill and relax to try and pass the 6 very LONG weeks..

a friend of mine had some sort of gum infection or something, but basically he had to drink/eat through a straw as well....
he bought a badass blender and started mixing all kinds of crazy food combinations, it was really nasty, maybe you should give it a try, cheeseburger and cola ? anyone wanna try :)

+vibes OP, im sure it sucks to have to have it wired shut. A buddy of mine had his broken after he had been drinking and thought it was a good idea to dare another friend to punch him in the face

+epic vibes, hope it's over quick. my girl had a broken jaw scare a month or so ago, she was in a ton of pain.

I have to get my jaw surgically broken at the end of july. Got be wired for like 4 weeks or something fml.

I'm feeling pretty good actually. One week down, five more to go.

The first few days were pretty rough but its gotten alot better a week later. One of the most helpful things is just staying positive all the time, happiness is just a mindset, especially in this type of situation. At first I was pretty bummed/pissed and thats all I was really focusing on, but now i'm past that and realize that while it felt good to be pissed at the time, it wasn't helping my situation at all.

I tried blending a hamburger and that tasted like shit. The food i'm basically living off of is blended mashed potatoes and oatmeal, i also dump some spoonfuls of brown sugar in each of those, i highly recommend trying brown sugar on potatoes even for people without broken jaws because it is delicious. Also, alot of banana protein shakes are helping. Its tough not to lose weight though, even though ive been stuffing myself the past week when i really didnt feel like eating, i've still somehow managed to lose 5 pounds...

Also been smoking lots of weed, and thats helped too

sorry to dubpost but get some ensures and instant breakefast. I feel you though, anything blended WILL taste lake shit. just keep smoken the herb and get by. when you get the wires cut i recommend scambled eggs and cooked ham. It will be hard to open your jaw at first but when you eat that first little bit of food, its like being born again. It simply amazing.
