Broken Ipad, Suggestions?

So my dad went to the ipad this morning and it looked like this...

Theres lines on the left side going down it, if you can't see in the picture, and it is frozen on this screen. No matter what button you hit, nothing happens. Won't turn off and won't change screens, so it's stuck like this.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Or do i have to send it to apple?

um pretty much your fucked. did you hit it or anything theres no way your can fix that yourself man, im sorry to say.i hope you have applecare on it

but i guess try holding the top button and the menu button for 30 seconds to restore it.

hold down the power and home button for like 10 seconds til it turns off, and keep holding down the home til it turns back on. that might work. also did it hit anything or get hurt in any way? because if it randomly just did that you can send it into apple.

on built to shred they threw some trucks and wheels on an ipad and shredded it. Best application i have heard for it

i didn't buy it we got it for free, but thanks for the help - that's what i did i held down the home button and the power button for 15 seconds and the whole thing reset.

try plugging it into the computer if that doesnt work then its still covered under warranty for 2 years since you bought it so you should be good just bring it to an apple store they can replace them on the spot

this is what you do. go to best buy and buy a new one. go home take new one out put old one in. return to store saying this is how is looked when it came out of the box. they give you new ipad now you have 2 ipads. your welcome
