Broken Fibula

So I just recently broke my fibula (bone right above the ankle). It was a clean fracture and no surgery was needed. I am just curious to see if anyone else has done the same thing just before ski season and how it effected your skiing.

Last year I broke my tibia and fibula skiing and it took me about 4 months to recover. Now when Im skiing I get pain when my boot presses on it so I just put like a beanie or bandana around it when I put on my boot to cushion it. Hopefully this helps

broke my fibula and tibula on the first of august 2 years back. Had to get surgery and now have a plate + 8 screws in my leg. I was back on skis around mid october and everything was fine.

I did the same thing a couple years back (spiral fracture but no surgery) at the end of November and was back skiing mid January. Make sure to hit PT hard and try your boots on before you ski again, I had to do a little bit of boot work but once that was done I was good to go.

I broke that bone a couple of summers ago. Just so you no the head of that bone is actually the ankle bone. Where on the bone was th crack? What. Found was it's sore to get in a boot but once in its ok but you really need to keep that foot stable in the boot. If not you will suffer like the guy above trying to use bandanas. You need some good footbeds which will help align you in the boot an ale pressure off th ankle which coul in turn agrevate the crack. Let me know if you have any questions about how to get your boots right.

Go get some boots fitted or take your boots to possibly have them refitted. Skiing with a beanie in there is a terrible idea an may make it worse. It's so easy to get boots fitted right there really is no reason to ski in pain.

I broke my fibula in may this year skateboarding, got plate and screws and im biking and running fine today. only took three months to heal completely even with surgery. I drank 4 glasses of milk everyday cuz i wanted to go to momentum really bad

same thing happen to me like exactly a year ago it really didnt effect my ski season too much i was able to start to ski just a few days after my local mountain opened and i didnt really feel like it hurt too bad, you should be fine. Although not being mobile will get to you so try to get a hobbie sitting in one spot

on another note, I am finally getting the plate and screws removed after 2 years (not that they annoyed me in any way, just glad that it will all be over) tomorrow. Hope all goes well!
