Broken Edge

After skiing for the day i noticed about 4 inches of my ski edge had broken right off exposing the whole core along the edge of my ski. Wondering if this is fixable or are they ruined? Thanks

Pics to come

this shit happens; best bet ist to let it dry out very well, perhaps heat the ski a bit with a wax iron, then clean the part where the edge has ripped out and fill it with epoxy.then let it harden out for a time ( at least a day) then take a dremel or sharp knife and trim off any excess epoxy.
You might want to round off the epoxy around the edge so it doesnt catch any steel or ice and chip or break off...
if you're not comfortable with doing it yourself, bring it to the shop!but don't expect any miracles, i don't think they'll put in a new edge....

Same thing happened to me. It got fixed and a year later is still holding up (i dont really use them except for urban). However im told the edge will rip out at any point.
So basically can be fixed but wont really be the same ski as it was before. Hope this helps a bit.

In my experience you can fix them, but the fix only lasts about a day of hitting more rails. Though I have kept my TNKs going for an entire season with 3 feet of edge missing (lost another foot earlier this season on another section).

The skis are done for. But they are still shredable.

k so i took them into the shop and the tech guy said he cannot fix them due to liability issues? so my question now is can i ski on them with 4 inches of my edge missing or will it be dangerous? Thanks

at least cover the edge with some epoxy otherwise your core will starts to absorb water and start deteriorating...
and as far as you're concerned about the actual skiing without an edge; stay away from too much ice and if you ride your skis; keep the broken edge on the outside of your skis; you usually carve the hardest on the inside edges of your skis...
and start looking out for new skis...maybe if it works out ok they'll last the rest of the season and you can pick up a cheap pair by the end of ski-season...

you can have edge welded on where the ski is missing edge and ptex will be re-added and so on. its posibble for you to do it but i wouldnt suggest it unless you know your way around stuff like that. talk to a good ski technician they can help you out

so the ski tech patched it up but there still no edge there its about 4 inchs right under my root will this effect me when hitting rails?
