ok I broke my collarbone... It's not that bad, my arms in a sling and i just have a bump, but it hardly hurts anymore. Anyway the doctor said one week in a sling then 6 weeks in and out of a sling. I feel like I could go skiing now no problems, albeit with one arm. Anybody on here broken their collarbone? Any ideas on if I could head of to the mountain when it hasnt fully healed yet? and im not going to discuss the sad story of breaking it first run of our ten day vacation... all ive been doing is reading and watching tv for the last week while my family has a great time... boriiing

If I had more energy, I'd burn that young mans face

collar bone is a tricky one, if you take one mild wreck on it before its totally healed, you are SCREWED cuz it will easily snap again, then it takes aprox twice as long to heal, i broke mine earlier this season and i broke it bad, i had a sling for 10 weeks and a brace for another 4 weeks, i wouldnt recommend skiing until you are fully healed.....sorry bud

if you are SURE that you wont fall then you could probably go, but other than that just be careful

my last day skiing i had an ac seperation in my shoulder which is almost the same thing as a collerbone. i used a sling the first day and that was because i didn't want anyone to hit me in the arm when i was at school

Skiing before anything is totally healed isnt a good idea. bc in the off chance that you fall, you will just end up going back to the beginning, or making it worse than it was before.

Yea dude i broke mine last summer, I dont know how. I think it was a delayed reaction from 16 days of sessioning and eating shit at mt. hood, but one day when i got back i jumped into a pool and i screamed out and sunk to the bottom. I got an X ray and it was fractured/broken and it took a while to heal. Now it's so fucked up, It sticks out so much i hate it. Definatly get yours fixed cause you dont want it to end up like mine. im gona post a pic later

i broke minelike 2 days into summer... i figure its probly the best bone to break cus all you have is the sling and you can take that off. npot the same with a cast

....

Even when it does heal i suggest getting physical therapy cause when i broke mine and it healed i then popped it out 5 or 6 times until i actually got physical therapy and fixed it up

i broke mine a couple seasons back and it sounds like the same deal, i took off three weeks and took it easy for 2 more, i was fine

yeah my friend broke his collar bone doing a back flip didnt get all the way around cought his ski tips and did a face plant ouch then my three other friends broke their arms then i tried to out do them by breaking my leg oh yeah but yeah you can ski but i really dont suggest it till youre really done and besides you dont even have to waitr that long i have a total of three months for my leg to fully heal and not to mention a full leg cast for one of those months

"if all your friends jumped off a clif would you?" -my mom "i would if there was snow on it" -me

Hey bud, I broke mine 4 weeks ago and its almost good as new, you can expect bruising for ages (i still have some!) the pain is managable but try to sleep sitting up, gravity will place the bone back together. Try to not stress it, but i excercised it 3 times a day by leaning forward with my arm down and rotating it, like drawing circles on the ground, that really helped! Stop your shoulder from dropping otherwise it will stay lop sided for ages! something to do with a build up of random bone stuff. Swelling will last 2 weeks approx. The more you rest it now the quicker it will heal, i was driving again 12 days later, 4 weeks later im back at the gym slowly building back up. My fracture was a butterfly, in 3 places. Hope this helps, i could have seriously done with it!!!

wo man thats one big sentence lol

i broke and dislocated my collar bone in one shot biking, it didnt really slow me down that much i biked for 5 days before i got xrays, it just hurt like a bitch to pull up for jumps, but drops were not a biggie, once i found out i stayed off it for a week and a bit, then just kinda sucked it up if it hurt, got i nic bump in the bone tho and i think its perment

heh, everyone and their mom has broken their collar bone. it sucks. i personally have broken mine twice and as a result have a sizeable bump on my shoulder from a bone poking out.
