i know it is a common injury in crazy sports... i broke mine longboarding, but I want to know how long most of you waited before you skiied again?

any help would be nice... if i'm not making sense, don't worry I'm fucked up on oxycodone

pussy, hah i got no pain medication at all for my clavical being broken, and i waited like a week and a half and just made sure to not fall

Damn thats not fun been there done that it was in a dark time in my life I reffer to as the pre-skiing era. But 2 years ago I broke the end of my tibia (anckle) skiped a weekend then replaced my boot liner with a cast ( toes wrapped in a couple socks and 2 hot packs) and finished my season. No lie

P.S. I just broke my wrist 4 hours ago

thx 4 the props I typed claim and then backspaced b/c I didnt want to come across too cocky.

Ps Im typing with one hand b/c my wrist is the size of a fucking grapefruit

no i totally agree wit slandis.i didnt get shit.ahah i waited 5 days. to ski.i didnt do much but film when i rode, but it beat sitting in a room.def..

I found a half bottle in my madicine cabinet prescribed to me and I dont rember getting it .....too many head injuries I guess

it took me 6 weeks when i broke mine. but mine was bad. it was completely twisted 90 degrees up, so instead of sticking straight out, it was sticking straight up. theres still a bump on mine shoulder

i just took it easy my first day back

when i broke mine the doctor said 4 to 6 weeks but my mom is into like natural medicine and shit like that and i broke it the thursday before winter break and i took some crazy natural chinese pill and it was so amazing i cant explain. it healed to the point where i could ski with a sling within 4 days i could go over the mountain and hit small jumps like very small just chilled very easy small boxes that are low i no i could do and by the end of the break maybe like 5 or 6 days later i was 90% healed was using poles again could hit jumps/rails even fell on it didnt hurt really at all shit was amazing.

i dislocated and shattered my collarbone and got it lodged in my trachea, and it took like 4 months to be ok. i cant play lacrosse anymore, but i can ski. I broke it right before march 07 but i missed a trip to AK because of it. play it safe and dont rush it, better not to hurt it worse.

i really broke it

The kids talking about skiing within a week are bullshitting, there is no way with a break that serious. I broke mine at the end of August a few years ago (full break but no floating piece like yours - will you need surgery?). I went skiing on opening day at the start of November by which time I was probably 75%, the bone was fully heeled but I didn't quite have full range of motion in that shoulder. Make sure you do physio when the bone is heeled, do it daily as the PT tells you to. My first week I was on the couch in a sling eating oxy watching movies, had to get help showering etc, arm basically useless. Week 2 was better, taking it out of the sling a bit and self shower but still not able to use it much. Week 3 was out of the sling, able to type etc, but not raise arm up very much. I think week 4 I was able to do more or less full range of motion physio.

I hope you don't have to get surgery on that, good luck, do physio.

umm mine took 6 weeks to be 100% but i was out of the sling in 2.5 weeks. (pics in profile) but u my friend have acompund fracture (more than one break) and thus im pretty sure ur gonna need surgery, that wont be fun and ur gonna hve to tack on a few extra weeks to recovery. But when i did mine out at hood this summer they gave me T3 which is codine and tylenol. I got sick and threw up on the last night, then realized that made my shoulder hurt so i took 2, bout 5 hours later started seizureing in the middle of the night. So DONT TAKE THAT SHIT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH listen to the doctors kiddies

yea i was skin again after like 4 weeks but doc. said that i should of waited a couple months.... just dont eat shit and you'll prolly be fine.

I was skiing after 6 weeks from injury and 5 weeks from surgery. Surgery speeds up the healing process, I am told and leaves your collar bone straighter.

thanks ns...i knew a website full of adrenaline junkies...would know what this is like.
thanks for the help. i'll be skiing in about 2 months
