Broken colarbone questions

I recently broke my collar bone and got a couple questions.

How long did you guys wear your sling.

How long till you started skiing.

How long till you were 100%.

How long till you were not scared to land on it?

I broke mine in december

i got put in a clavical brace (shoulder immobilizer), it really helped me get out of the sling and start using my arm

i skied a little around my 3rd week (i dont suggest it). it was painful and risky

im still not 100%, but im skiing and hitting the park almost 100%. still being cautious

im still scared to land on it

good like my friend. sleeping is the worst

wore my sling for 6-7 weeks

started skiing in a couple months (i broke it at the end of the season)

probably a couple months until i was 100%, because i lost all my muscle in my arm, so i had to work out to regain it. im also a girl, with next to zero muscle, so it will probably be different for you

and i guess im more cautious now, but not scared

I broke mine a month ago, and never really wore a sling. I have one of those goofy figure eight braces though. I would start taking calcium as soon as you can, just make sure it has magnesium and vitamin D along with it. I skied like a week out in a sling, but just because I have to coach kids. My doctor said I should be good to go as long as I don't fall in it in like 2 weeks and healed enought to start to charge in about 4-6 more. So you are looking at about 2 months until you can get after it.

my sling was for like.. 5 weeks.. i was suppose to be off the hill for 6-8 but i cheated.. i'm still scared to land on it, i bet i'll break it this year

I wore my sling for like 2 weeks. Then just chilled for a couple more. Started skiing around a little after a month. I would say I started actually skiing hard again after 6 weeks. The best thing you can do is give it time.

yeah i wore a figure 8 brace for like 4 weeks.  i was cool to do stuff after about 5 weeks and full strength in like 6-7 weeks.  funny thing though, the activity that took me the longest to get back to was sleeping on my side.

my friend fractured his collar bone and tore a ligament in his ac or something and he wore his sling for like 5 days but it still hurts him (this happened 3 weeks ago)

LET IT HEAL FINE....I DIDN'T AND NOW I CAN NOT REALLY SWITCH SPINS BECUASE I CANT LOOK OVER MY LEFT SHOULDER BECUASE OF THE WAY IT HEALED.

I started shooting hoops 1 month after i broke mine, i wouldn't start skiing for a month and a half and no jumps your fist week or so

I have broke mine twice. Keep it in the sling for six weeks but you can take it out to do physio. Keep getting X Rays and once you can see the bone isnt broken anymore then you can pretty much do whatever you want. I would say alteast 10-12 weeks before you can land on it.

hahahah yea man. i CANNOT sleep on my back...i have to sleep on my side. i just recently started sleeping on my side again. thank god

umm well it took four weeks for it to feel better for me, i was hardly wearing my sling at that time but then i broke it again so i dunno when it starts to feel good don't all of the sudden think you're invinsible again being patient is much better than re-breaking it

i wore my sling for a month, then played lacrosse imediatly after and had no problems with it. mine was a real clean break tho so it healed fast

I broke mine twice - both in the off season mountain biking. 2nd time I got a plate and 4 screws. You can see the outline through my skin, so its a pretty good conversation piece.

I wore a sling for like a week or 2 and started skiing after 6 weeks. It takes about 8-10 weeks until its 100% though

i guess it depends on the break. 2 yrs ago my bro broke his, but it was not all to bad. He said he could sleep fine after 2 weeks, was skiing withing 4, and doing rails and smaller jumps is about 6

i broke mine badly not last sumemr bit the one before first week

it snapped and still sticks out of my shoulder so i have a spikey lump

its basically 100% but i sort of strained it goign too slow on a rep a short time ago lifting so dont lift for a while (it feels fine now)

the doctor said that after like 3 months you get 90% heaked i think and it takes another year to get fully healed.

this was at the beginning of the summer and i was mountian biking a lot in the fall and falling a bunch and it was fine

just ski when you are comfortable
