i just broke my collarbone at opnening day! the doctor said 4-6 weeks healing time.

would it be stupid to go back earlier

Yes. And if you do, its gonna hurt like a mofo. You use that part of your torso soo much, you really wont be able to rail or jump. You can cruise, but just remeber to keep your hand still. I would give it at least a month. When I broke mine I gave it a go after a month, hit a jump and had to swing my arms to keep the balance, hurt like a bitch when I landed. Recovery is individual, but I would listen to the doctor on this one. Sucks it happened at opening, wish you good luck and sending some positive vibes your way. Drink lots of milk and stay patient, you'll be back again before you know it.

You'll be ok in time to enjoy a healthy portion of the season!

Just rest up, do your PT, make sure your bone health is good by taking your vitamins!

hmmm, if you have painkilers you can definatley go ski anyways, but dont fall

just dont

and then after a month you should be fine

after 2 weeks i was already on my tramp doing small tricks

and when i broke mine i was skiing 2 days after, on painkillers though

This was my cbone last winter, healed up nicely and i was back skiing after 4-5 weeks np, but just chill the first 2-3weeks being back on skis, if you fall and hit your shoulder (*shrugs*) you're fucked for another 4-5 weeks, even if it's only a mellow fall.

can you ski? yes.can you hit jumps? yes.

can you spin on jumps? yes.

can you do rails? yes.

should you do anything park related? probably not.

give it 3 weeks at least before you go back to jumps and rails.

and to the guys saying you use your collarbone in skiing, no, you don't. seriously...? you don't use your BONES to move. you use your muscles. and all that "torso movement" you're talking about is your core muscles, along with possibly using some momentum from your upper body and/or your hips. you could easily spin around on rails and jumps with a broken collarbone. it'd be a bit awkward with the sling on... and the impact from the landings of the jumps would hurt until the bone started to heal, however it's perfectly possible. just not recommended.

i'd just stick to cruising.

My brother broke his collarbone, gave it six weeks and went back to jumping, then broke it again, simply from overshooting a jump. Rode it out fine, just landed wrong and started claiming pain near his shoulder. What you should definately do is give it the time that you're doctor says, and take it easy when you do decide to get back.

Collarbone breaks are so stupid because they are really easy to break. Mine kind of folded over on it's self and now after it's been healed for a year and a half it has this weird divot and irritates me when I run. My shoulder turned really yellow and then purple after a while. The drugs are good though.

Filmed this about a month after breaking mine and I was fine.

a few years back i broke my collar bone skiing at home. unfortunately i had a trip out west planned for 3 weeks later. i still went and skied. only was skiing groomers at first, but gradually built up confidence to ski more difficult stuff. eventually took a fall on my broken shoulder, and didnt ski for the last day of my trip... i think you should just go for it once you are comfortable hanging out without a sling and have some mobility with your arm. just ski cautiously.

you don't want to cause worse problems because you just had to ski one time. better off missing a month of skiing than destroying yourself

my neighbor broke either one or both of his femurs skiing. i don't think he was even able to work because of it

dude collar bone is not that big of a deal. Wait a few weeks before u start cruizing, get it strong and ease back into it. U'll probably be charging in 6-7 weeks, no biggie

Sorry to hear that bud. The good news is, a broken bone usually heals much more smoothly than a torn muscle or something similar. What I mean is, after the 6-8 weeks you will be good to go whereas with a muscle it could be a nagging injury that takes months to fully heal if you keep facing set-backs.

you could prolly ski after a few weeks, just filming your buddies or something though. I wouldnt be hitting any features for sure though.
