Brogan wins superunknown

i wouldn't be surprised if Martini filmed with level 1 anyway though, even though he didn't win, neither did hornbeck or ahmet but they are staples in every level 1 film since their superunknown, (3 maybe?) i mean i buy level 1 movies for their segments... among others. so i'd be stoked to see martini in Turbo. congrats to Brogan. i dig it.

brogan, not hating, but your vid consister more of 5 xl jackets and small sw spins.....where as martinis was some of the most tech shit in skiing, i mean come on, no pros did some of the shit he did on hand rails, lets be serious, and his jumping, brogan didnt even go inverted

someone can get as tech as they want, it still doesnt mean they are fun to watch ski, martini is a machine and probably the best competitor i know. but brogan has true unique character, all of his tricks look different, im sick of the same pretzel or the same cab 10, i can watch brogan do cab 7's all day and not get bord because they look so damn unique and smooth.

agreed. martini did harder tricks, but when it comes down to it, id rather watch a video of jon brogan skiing. and since berman is trying to sell movies, i think he made the right call

JEA JEA what JEA

I so styoked rigth!

what are guys talking about, he wont create any footage for level 1. I've never seen anyone with amout of drive that kid has. He comes to the mountain with a list of tricks he must do that day and plus I heard him say he'd do anything for Berman. Personal I think hes gonna create a ton of footy.

But, fuck yea brogan.

I told u nig

hes my friend to

yeah. i fucked it up and put alex instead of nick. but i fixed it, so now it says nick martini, which is who it is.

i have yo agree with you, def the worst superunknown yet in terms of wow factor. Wallisch's video from last year probably would have won it this year. But next year I can't wait to see Gus Kenworthy, kid's gonna kill it

Yes dude i wanted him to win, he was sooo steeezy and he deserved it. I cannot wait for next years movie.

riiiggghhhhttttt... yeah your absolutely right, did you not see his "one day in the park with gus"? Yeah im sure your friends can do all that, like a rodeo off a rail, and a kangaroo flip, ohh yeha not to mention spinning both ways, and 810's off rails. Yeah ur right, that is fuckin weak, its not impressive at all. Ohh wait, maybe the 360 switchup BOTH ways on the dfd too. yeah ur right he sucks. All his rail tricks are stock, but then again SO IS EVERYONE ELSES, what the fuck do you want? And if you mean weird and forced? OH YOU MEAN HIS ARMS FLAILING? oh waiiitt... he doesn't do that does he? but, if he doesn't do that how can it be forced...? AND NO MIKEE you and your friends can't do any of the tricks he does, I have seen both yours and chris's videos.

a) I was referring to Brogan, who does none of the tricks you described. I don't know where you got the idea I was talking about Gus, since this is a thread about brogan...

b) Our 2-3 year old videos do not represent our current skiing abilities.

c) Let's be friends.

i hope your not talking shit on christopher honeywell... his rail shit from 3 years ago is still comparable to pros or even better, his enders are amazing so fuck off

So if Martini didn't win because he is too well known, why was he allowed in the contest anyway? Not saying Brogan didn't kill it, respect to him for sure, but I don't see how they can acknowledge Martinis edit being better and not let him win!?

no argument gus is dope. but by forced style he meant that the whole arms by the side thing looks forced. how can u make flailing look forced lol?

Its funny becasue all I see are threads bitching about how everything is hucked, to tech, and people are forgetting about dope style.

well what do you know, a major competition FINALLY answered your demands, and we still bitch. Brogan clearly won becasue of sheer style. about a zillion other kids can do pretty much everything in his vid, but his style is just on another level.

stop bitching, anyone in the finals could have won in some realm of fairness. props to martinin, props to brogan, props to all the other kids I hadnt heard of until the finals were released.

GOD DAMN SKIING NEEDED THIS. I could fucking care less how many different tricks you do if I can't watch em I can't watch em. BROGAN is gonna get'r done and get'r done good.

yessss i was hopin he would win.

i think martini is a lil more tech but when it comes down to it brogans style is on another level...he honestly looks like he could be asleep when he throws his tricks. they are just toooo easy looking.

props to martini though he is killin it for sure at only what 17?

all the haters need to quit it and respect what Johnathon has to offer for level 1. If you dont apreciate it now you will after seeing the level 1 park shoot footage that will come to be.

and... yea johnathon

dude if you don't like brogans style....who's DO you like?

you said you like "mellow? fun? carving and flowy? gangster?" style. well what the fuck man. how can you not like brogans?

I like it a lot more than most... but I don't like his afterbang... plus there's just something weird about it in most of the shots that I just don't find pleasing. I feel like I would like it more IRL.

but who's style I do like: Mickael! (Pep Pollard)

Ok, there is some really unnecessary hate in this thread. For those who are not aware of how the winner is picked. Here is how it goes down:

1. Berman, Freedle, and Decker pick their favorite.
2. Josh gets the opinions of the companies involved in the contest.
3. Some athletes weigh in, including former winners.

The winner is based on the opinions of those three groups of people.

I will start by saying that we voted for Jon's Brogan's video. There were a lot of kids who could have won the contest and these were the best videos I have seen in the past 3 years. In fact, I think that Nick's video was the best skiing of any submission to date. There was some mind blowing stuff in there. There is no specific criteria to win Superunknown though. It is not an FIS sanction event with rigid scoring criteria. It is based on the opinions of the 3 groups of people I listed above. It was not just Berman who choose Brogan; some of the best skiers on the planet liked his skiing the best.

At the end of the day, these types of contests are always going to be debatable, especially when you are gathering opinions and not using a scoring system. Jon Brogan winning does not mean that the careers of the other skiers are going to be restricted or that they got "screwed". Their lives go on the same way that they did the day before yesterday. This is not like getting rejected from a college or not making a varsity sports team. The can continue to ski just like they did before they entered the contest. By putting Superunknown together, Level 1 is helping out 1 relatively unknown kid, which is more than any other ski movie company does. Instead of bitching about it maybe everyone should be happy that there is this type of opportunity out there.
