Right now there are a group of guys that are getting this going. By a group of guys I mean boarders and I was just throwing this out here to see if there is any other guys besides a few I know that are around here that would come out for this.. its set for november 7/8th. Thanks guys

btw.. thats a tentative date.. most likely won't be on that day

anyways.. i'm willing to help out a lot for this event and from what jake told me, its currently just boarders that they want. So let's see if there is interest from the St. Kits area or surronding area, that would be interested in comin to this jam???

kk.. this is what i posted on their facebook group.. they haven't posted back but i'll let u guys know what's up... and please criticize my post if something is wrong/ should add/ or what was good. Thanks!!

hey guys...

i'm glad someone is finally taking initiative on this

idea, I tried to get the ball rolling a couple of years ago, but never

seemed to get enough interest from people to help out..

anyways.. Here's what I think,

One

of the guys was telling me that you guys are wanting this to make this

a snowboarder only comp, I personally think (being a skiier) thats the

worst idea ever, now a days the majority of jib comps have both skiiers

and boarders unless the major sponsor is a ski or board company.

Second

- location, I think the most logical spot on campus would be right in

front of schmon in the big open field, be a perfect set up there.

Third

- Setup, we will obv need lots of scalfolding for a massive drop in

(maybe copy the Georgian set up). As for rails, due to limit space, you

can't have anything to fancy... here are some ideas.. a long mellow

down rail,, a DFD box, some sick shit could get thrown down,,, a flat

box (maybe at the bottom for a last hit?)

Forth - Since this event is brand new, maybe just make it a Jam format

with prizes for best trick or something? Or have 2 events, a jam format

during the day, then a comp at night with riders having to summit

videos, previous comp results and sponsors that they have.

Fifth –

Date, November is such an iffy month, could be so unpredictable, and

hulling snow from a local rink could be a big task if its like 10-20

degrees out. Maybe hold it out till December (before exams) or maybe

make this a frost week event, sponsored by BUSU.

Sixth – sponsors,

there are a few shops in st kits that might be interested, the skate

shop just off st. pauls, pro ski shop up on Geneva, West 49 (never

know), Kissing Bridge or Holiday Valley and I guess any other local

shops in the Niagara region would be interested since this is a first

in this area. I doubt you will be able to get any big names to sponsor

this event since its such a low key event, but you never know…

Seventh – the biggest challenge for an event like this is insurance.

Could be an issue with Brock depending how anal they will be about this

event.

Last – after party would be soo live at issacs.

fisher you made some good points and i agree with everything you said..

it sounds like its going to be a lot of work but hopefully this all comes together

bump

this is this weekend! it looks like it going ot be laid back and just chill.. come session some jibs or session the keg or both!

Comp started at 2:30, with a good turn out of people

lots of snowboarders vs. 4 skiers lol

keg was pumpin, people were havin a good time throwing down.

seshed on 2 flat boxes for about hour and half

then they pulled out a 18ft flatbar which people seshed for a bit

then 5pm rolled around

9 cruisers show up,

2 guys got arrested

one guy for failing to comply, he was at the top of the drop in ramp when the cops showed up and the cops said to everyone to leave the premis immediatly and that the comp was shut down, everyone cheering the guy at the top to drop in, he does, after killin the rail, cops promptly take him away to a cop car.

and the other guy .... for being an idiot hahaha

and jam was shut down at 5:30PM, thats right when there was daylight still.

Lesson to this story: it is illegal in the Niagara region to have fun during the day now, 24 hour noise by-law and indecent exposure, because people were pissin in the backyard

so in other words, an epic day of riding!

gotta love the ontario ratios eh?

The Trent Railjam looks to be about 30 snowboarders vs 1-2 skiers :P

hey if anybody is in the area, Jake and I are hitting up the rail jam again this year. Don't come expecting a serious comp, more less lay back, have fun, enjoy some brews and sesh all day long. Hopefully no cops are called this year, and no one gets arrested *cough*JAKE*cough* haha.
