holy shit the guy filming is such a fucking psycho. It was hard to tell, but it did look like the Iraqis were throwing rocks and such, but beating isn't the answer either. I think the camera man deserves a beating.. "naughty little boys... YES YESSSSSSSSSSSS"

Well no shit they could kick my ass there was like 10 of them. What I'm saying is that Iraqis did not get their ass handed to them instead got roughed up a bit. If it was a beating I would atleast would like to see some head stomping, knees to the head and etc.
 
It is impossible to tell if they were teenagers. You really can't talk very badly about the soldiers. I don't think you have ever been in war and I hope you don't have to experience such a fucked up thing. I will not confirm or disapprove of the actions taken by the British soldiers.

Those kids could have done anything...notice how you don't see anything in the beginning or right in the middle of it.

Try to put yourself in this scenario. You don't want to be in Iraq, but you are there. Your best friend for the past 2 years is the only reason you are still living. As you are trying to keep a crowd of nearly a thousand quiet, you see someone shoot your buddy. What the fuck would you do if this happened. I would have done the same thing to those guys if I was filled with rage like them. Try not to judge so quickly, it makes you look bad.

If they wouldn't have been throwing rocks and commiting threatening acts they wouldn't have gotten beat. It's not like they were innocent, and it's not like the solidiers even bloodied them up. My dad gave me worse spankings when I was a kid.
 
I'm almost 100% that the camera man isn't speaking cause it sounds way to clear with all that wind and noise. Basically its a voiceover by some other dude.

you notice them running at the crowd? any one of them could ahve had a gun and shot at the british troops. i read somewhere there was rock throwing and gun shooting at the building where the guy was filming from. so theres an angry mob throwing rocks and other wise shooting at you to harm you. you rush them, and catch some culprits. you beat them up.

an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but i can't say i blame them.

Dont you remember the Abu Ghraib scandal that kicked off back in April 04? Correct me if I´m wrong but I´m pretty sure that those were US troops involved in that, and I´m sure that your own Canadian troops (addressing Daner here) have been involved in similar ´beatings´. Sadly it´s one of the things that happens when a country is under occupation and no matter what anyone says it will no doubt continue to happen until the occupation is over.

What if the kids weren't insurgents? What if you were one of those kids and your FRIENDS were insurgents but you werent, and a bunch of older guys in futuristic soldier outfits were kicking and punching you. I can tell you, without hesitation, that you would not have said what you said above.

Many of my best friends have been to Iraq and back, and one of them was injured from a roadside bomb. They all said it's scary, and they saw people die, but 9 days out of 10 they spent playing Battlefield 1942 on their laptops.

You've never been to Iraq, so where you coming from in your argument? Either have I, but I've got testimony from some of my best friends, along with videos and pictures they sent me weekly.

The attitude of: "Its fucking War man, shit happens" leads to massacres like in Vietnam and during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. It's not excusable to assume someone is guilty and then beat the shit out of them for it, no matter what.

Maybe we arent seeing the whole picture in that video, in which case my arguments mean less. But they did take the kids behind a building and that one soldier kicked on of them in the nuts. Sure they might do that to a captured American or British soldier, but we should try to be better.
 
your entire argument is based on the kids not being insurgents, and that is something i highly doubt, because they were definitely part of the masive crowd of people throwing shit at the soldiers and fighting them, do you think the soldiers would have gone after random kids, or kids actually participating in attacking them, and when i say kids im not talking about children here, they are probably around 18 or so, and even if they were younger the fact that they were throwing shit at the soldiers makes them fair game for a beating, plus you have no idea what you would do in that situation, and when i say "it's war" i mean that those soldiers are obviously caught up in the moment and they have just been through a fucking battle, and their friends have been killed by iraqis so i dont doubt the fact that they would lash out at anyone attacking them
 
The tape was taken nearly 2 years ago, when the area was at its worst. That base was being attacked at night and riots during the day - for about 6 months. These soldiers are not 30 they are more likely to be 18, 19, 20 just like you and me and pissed of that instead of going out getting laid back home they get shot, bombed and stoned all day and night.

These guys arnt trained to be social workers either - Shitty thing to do shitty situation.

Thats not the way our system is supposed to work. We have things like the Geneva Accords etc so that we don't constantly escalate the situation. We aren't supposed to use torture, and we aren't supposed to beat the fuck out of little kids. If i was growing up and some soldier beat the shit out of me, I'd want to kill them, this is why there are so many iraqis willing to give their lives to fight us. Sure they may have thrown stones etc, but if we simply apprehended them, and showed understanding of their situation then it would prevent many deaths in the future.

I know it's really cliche, but an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind... think about it. We need to take the moral high road for this conflict to ever be resolved.

I don't care what the children were doing. There is no reason to beat them while they are in fucking custody. There were 3 soldiers to every kid. They obviously weren't getting away. They obviously couldn't harm the soldiers anymore. So why the need to beat the children to a pulp? If that happened in the US believe me, they couldn't hire enough lawyers to deal with the lawsuits. If we are "spreading freedom," then why must we rule like Saddam???

The children were clearly in military custody. I don't give a shit what the hell they were doing. They were literally being tortured by those soldiers. They continually beat and kicked them while they screamed for mercy. And they are unarmed children no less.

In 15 years it would not surprise me at all if one of them strapped himself with 20 lbs of explosives and walked into a crowd of americans.

Thirdly The Iraqis didn't get beat before the british got there, they were gassed and killed in MASS numbers. I'd say a buncha bruises is better then being suffocated and have my lung deteriorate in like 2 minutes. And just slowly die with a burning fire in my chest as I try to suck in one last breath.....
 
did you notice how only 1 of the soldiers was even carrying a firearm? If they were shooting at them, i'd imagine they would be shooting back, not decked out in riot gear armed with billy clubs.

You don't beat people while they are being held in custody, period. Yes soldiers have a right to defend themselves if they are being attacked. But the soldiers clearly out numbered the unarmed children. They had them pinned on the ground and continued to beat and kick them. they could have easily picked them up and taken them away at that point.

It looks to as though they were doing exactly what the asshole in the backgroud said. Punishing them. They do not have the right to sit there and beat them for rioting. If they want to install a democratic government similar to that of ours, then they need to show it. Our government would never let that happen over here and they should not let it happen over there. In the place we are trying to set an example.

And basically by your statement, you attemped to justify the beating of those children, with the fact that saddams regime did worse. And it's hardly torture right? Theres been worse on school yards, so naturally it's ok right?

And just for the record, THEY CAN'T SHOOT BACK most of the time, what would you say if that vieo was of a soldier shotting the kid? UHHHH. Rightio, and yeah I woule kick the shit out of one of them, if they were trying to kill me, or had killed my friends.
