British and australian/new zealand accent

I dont have a real accent, but I have a really good fake English accent. I went on a canoe trip for 3 days, and convinced my trippers i was English. They didnt know. Now I use the accent when I meet new girls because they dig it

yeah id be so sick. i want a british accent or one of those hardcore irish accents

i love british accents. I spend a lot of the winter at Whistler, and everyone who works there is an aussie or kiwi import. its like "hey dude, just bc you have a 6 month work visa doesnt mean youre a local. i live 200 miles a way. im more local than you." but im usually just mad bc they want me to hook them up with my friends...sad face.

they are super different

I don't mind british accents, but they can vary depending on where in the UK the person is from.

THat definitely applies in Australia too. THere are people from oz with horrrrrrrible accents (actually i can't say i enjoy having an Australian accent..sometimes i wish I spoke like an american or canadian)

^Pretty much sums up our accent....

I spent part of my childhood in NZ so i grew up with a kiwi accent for a few years. I can still switch to it pretty easily but it's forced, wish i still had it naturally.

I've got an Aussie accent. I've only ever been told good stuff like how its attractive and how people with they had a cool accent (althought I think canadians have a really nice accent). Mostly it's just annoying when people try and guess and get it completely wrong, mines often confused with English or NZ.. and once I even got American!

Im Engish, but my accent probably sounds nothing like an American would perceive an English accent to be like, northern accent sounds alot different to a London accent.

ugh dont say that. my math teacher has one. it's so fucking annoying..and he says"hwow"and "hwy"like the h sound before the w.like stewie's"coolhwip"

thats only certain people. i have a few friends from different parts of ireland and none of them do that.

yeah dude aussie accents are so much better than british

i can fake a good one from oz, but that's prob cause i listen to a lot of music from there and a watch a lot of chasers war on everything.

I love being british and having a British accent, but i hate being English in America, it seriuosly sucks. Everyone I meet is like 'hey, are you from Australia/NZ'. Only one person has guessed me as being British in 6weeks. It's damn useless.
On the other hand girls dig it, I just don't like the American accent on chicks. Makes it hard... Well actually it doesn't...
But being a southerner is dope sauce, Northern accents suck. haha, kidding but bring the North/South divide war.

^ Same people that made the beached whale one..please don't think that is a standard aussie haha

I want a canadian accent eh or NZ would be awesome.

So if you're from England/NZ is it hard to understand Americans because it seems like we have an accent?

I'm a kiwi so yep sure do. If your kiwi/aussie you'll notice that they can be pretty different and laugh at people who get you confused. Happened to me a lot in Canada.

To the guy above me: Nah, you can understand fine unless its some southern accent. American accents r sweet

That's funny because i can't understand half of what you guys say and southern accents i have trouble with that too.

haha i have both, ive got an aussie accent but im a kiwi at heart so i can out one on easy lol

^ woah is it just me or does every1 see his post italicised(sp?) i noticed in another thread that every1's post were in italics after i posted

exactly. i hate how people think they're all the same. pisses me off

i dont have one anymore, but my parents do. some lady asked my dad if he was from south africa, so he responded "no, if i was from south africa id speak like this" in a really strong south african accient. they felt really dumb and kinda freaked out at the same time.

i just meant it pisses me off that they act like im on their turf bc they work in the lodge or a hotel im staying in. Im not nearly cool enough to be a "local" in whistler either, but i knew where BC was before they googled "ways to make me cooler with the foreign ladies while also learning to snowboard."

wow.. relax mate. who cares if you knew where bc was before someone on the other side of the world did. lots of the kiwis who go to whistler / other resorts have been going over for years

you mean the war of northern aggression right?

traditional southern accents are close to british accents...like proper southern gentlemen/plantation owners back in the day.... I am not talking about modern rednecks. but southern accents can sound cool if they are mild and not all redneck and shit.

I'm an Aussie not with a strong Aussie accent though. I can put on a fairly decent American accent but don't like the Kiwi accent. Like a good American accent in a guy though.
