Bringing back the FKS?

Anyone else hear talk of an FKS relaunch? The pics Rossi posted have Xavier holding them on the podium and I heard there were some at the SAS launch up in whistler.

fuck posted before i was done. also, shitloads of look/rossi riders still ride pivots. im guessing they have some stockpiled for team riders. tanner was still riding pivots last year if i remember correctly, and hes not even on look/rossi

I highly doubt they will for many reasons the main being the molds are broken. Also even if they did bring it back most people couldn't even afford them. Does anyone remember the retail on the FKS 185? It was $400 ya about the cost of a pair of skis. So I highly doubt many people will want to buy bindings when they retail for $300+

hahaha
And those ones look old that he has. But there has been a rumor abound that they're coming back. Tanner stopped skiing them apparently because he was running out and he was getting pissed at look/rossi because they kept hinting at bringing it back and never doing it. So he switched to tyrolia. Oh, and tyrolia's working on this thing with their bindings, where they're going to make the mounting pattern for their bindings wider. Not like the jester where they just made the plastic wider. The screws will actually be further apart.

those are from the last year they made them, you can tell by the orange din window, it matches the rossi race stock from that year. fks will not come back this year but there's a slight chance they will come out for the 10/11 season but as of now the mold is not functional

i didnt follow your link, but i saw you mentioned the plastic housing thing. the problem most team riders have with their bindings is the fact that the plastic parts break, usually the plastic components within the steel track. that's why salomon introduced the STH bindings (stands for steel track housing). the housing that was once plastic is now steel, so they wont break as easily. i know thats salomon, but most binding companies are trying to address that same problem.

bottom line: long live pivots, the only binding i ski

the explanation I heard was that they want to move on to create better technology that retreat to old technology that isn't as good for racing.

Eh, I was skiing FKS on sunday when i got mine fucked haha.
I hope they bring them back though, love those fuckng binders.

Ha that would be awesome, i would love to get my hands on some turntables. Im on the Griffon currently and its ok, i also have a pair of Marker MRR Pivots on some OG AR5 from a while back, and those are bomber, my favorite setup for sure.

on one of the SIA days photos, a load of dynastar/look bindings are pictured, and they are not turntable or fks style. considering they are all the same bindings, i dont think theyll be back next year.

I have heard from a very reliable source that Dynastar/Look plans on bringing the Pivot heal back into production for normal retail to the public for the 2010-2011 season. It sucks it is not happening sooner, but hopefully this comes to fruition even if we do need to wait another year.

well MSRP is 400, most shops ive seen list them at 330 and they go down from there.
But to the photo, at my shop we still have those exact bindings for sale. We have like 5 pairs of 120s, 2 pairs of 155s, and a pair of 185s.

ya i was at a ski race a couple of weeks ago and the rossi rep was talking to my coach and my coach was saying how much he like the turn tables and the rossi rep was saying how much everybody likes them and that they might bring them back.

I'm surprised they're not talking up the new Solomon touring bindings, a tech told me there are 5 pairs being tested in the states right now. The guys at Rossi are a hell of a lot quieter about their shit, they've got a rep swearing up and down on the TGR forums that FKS isn't coming back but all the Dynastar and Rossi athletes in park/pipe have definitely switched back to FKS. Plus there's a gratuitous shot of the binder in the new video they just posted:https://newschoolers.com/web/content/viewcult/action/news/id/4443/jid/1188/eid/4199/

but rossi/dynastar riders have been on pivots forever. when vanular was still on dynastar he was on pivots, and they had stopped making em. they probably have a bunch held somewhere for team riders

Those are old, just like the one's everyone has been riding on and hoarding since they stopped making them. You will notice "gratuitous shots" of Tanner Hall on them for the last however many years.

he px (at any DIN range) might be better for racers, but it is a shitty binding for freestyle.
The px has all kinds of pre-release issues when taking off and landing with rotation (spinning). It also seems to have less elasticity in the forward pressure, so people are pulling off their skis in grabs when the ski is still rebounding/bouncing from the take-off flex.
The pivot is not perfect (the turntable plate can sometimes ride on top of the forward pressure tab), but it is WAY better than the px, at any DIN range.
