Bring on the emo haters-MCR album leak

i dont think they are emo but that seems to be the consensus anymore..

and why not there are alot of people on here who are interested and would want to hear the album before it releases

my chemical romance is the most underrated band out there.

i shouldnt even like MCR, but for some reason i have looked past the hot topic and mtv bullshit.

and I have found something to love about them.

i am literally the only person i know who like my chemical romance, well, out of all of my friends.

the black parade has a few shitty tracks, and some WAY over produced parts, but its fun and entertaining and has a couple REALLY good songs.

i really like MCR's first cd, but then there second cd, the more i listened to it, the more transparent it was i jsut grew out of it i guess, i still like there fisrt album though

this is a low low low quality stream.

but gerard's voice isn't for everyone

it really works on songs like "sleep"

but he cant sing anything like the cd sounds live.

its bullshit.

but they are still a good live band.

I totally agree with you. They cant necessarily help it if a few teenage girls like them, they are a pretty musically talented group of guys who put on a great show, end of story.

MCR is defiantly an aweful band and thats not coming from some emo hater or some elitist.. they just flat out suck.

sorry but i disagree with that, iv seen them support muse and they were so shit the worsed part was when MCR finished a 45 min set all the 'emo' kids left and missed muse do a 3 hour set.

they are on the way to selling out,

same the first cd was sick, then i lost all respect once the second cd came it sucked.

mcr is emo.

also mcr has 3 cd's all of witch you would not relize were from the same band witch automaticly makes them a sellout band.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

quite possibly the worst post in the history of ns.

i totally didn't know that your music progressing made you a sellout.

does that make radiohead sellouts? listen to the difference between pablo honey and kid a.

Guys and girls, they are emo. Look at their song where the guy the whole time screams, "I'M NOT OKAY! I'M NOT OKAY!" Seriously, he looked like he was on the verge of crying the whole damned song. It might have been the fumes from the heavy appliance of black eye shadow.

yeh progression is different then releasing a second much poppier cd and kicking your drummer out cuz he doesnt wanna make it big. there first cd was sick there second one blew

Im not attacking anyone's opinions at all, but i just dont understand how anyone could think the first album was better than the second. Musically it was far worse, and Gerard's voice wasnt half as good. But thats just my opinion i guess. The third album got really good reviews... Like very, very good reviews. Rolling Stone's review was ridiculous and they tend to be fairly picky. So i suppose that's a sign. If improvement means selling out, I hope every band I listen to sells out.

the first album is just a lot more original and not meant to be directed towards a bigger audience. basically if u listened to the band from the beggining you realize how much less original they sound.

i dont think id say music progeressing technicly they got worse.

and they change to the music scene. they change into whats hott

No, technically they got better. According to your taste they may have gotten worse or "unoriginal" (not sure youve heard the new album if you think that)but musically they are far superior to what they used to be.

see thats the stereotype, people think emo music is about whinning and being a rich kid with tight pants.

But emo means Emotional-hardcore

I do like My chemical romance, and they get way too much shit from people. All of their albums are catchy and personally i think fun to listen to. Its just a common misconception they're referred to as "emo". True emo music no longer exists. It was a type of harcore a stub culture of punk in the 80's. And somewhere the term has been misused.

I hate the word emo, not because of the kids who dress and act silly. Just because of the haters.

emo definitly doesnt mean emo-hard core. hard core is hard core, or thats why theres "screamo" but emo is whiny ass bitches like dash board and bull shit like that

yep.

people need to be able to seperate pop-punk from emo

because i'm definatly sick of hearing fob refrenced as such.

Wrong, the term ‘Emo’ originated in the mid-1980’s punk scene of Washington D.C to classify such bands of the post-punk era as Rites Of Spring, Fugazi, Moss Icon and Antioch Arrow. The term addressed both the way these bands connected with their audiences, as well as their tendency to deal more with topics of personal and relationship politics than with the standard themes of rock music.

As this new style gained popularity, bands such as Moss Icon, Policy Of Three, Navio Forge and Indian Summer began to fuse traditional hardcore punk with emo stylings and techniques. The result of this fusion was a form of emo far more intense than its predecessor, resulting in a powerful emotional release that often left emo bands and their audiences crying or screaming at the end of performances.

However, several hardcore punk fans were often uncomfortable with such powerful emotional releases during performances, resulting in a split between what were considered true hardcore fanatics and those who affiliated themselves with emo. During this period, the term ‘emo’ was used in a derogatory manner by true hardcore fanatics and lost all reference to a musical style now considered socially unacceptable.

Several subgenres of emo developed throughout the early 1990’s in response to its mainstream success, including emo violence, screamo and hardcore emo (‘emocore’). Emo Violence uses often very chaotic screamed vocals (usually relatively high pitched and less modified than typical hardcore or death metal vocals) and is also often recorded in low fidelity which gives it a foggier sound.

Nowadays, the term emo is incorrectly used to define the style of several alternative bands including Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance and The Used. Like many terms defining genres of popular/alternative music, the bands that are labeled emo are in constant dispute, since each band in existence undeniably has its own unique style and technique. However, several characteristics of alternative music today are undoubtedly emo, including introspective songwriting, powerful guitar riffs and emotionally driven vocals.

(Extracts from my musical investigation into the origins of emo)

the black parade only has like 4 or 5 good tracks. It's too bad they took a turn for the gay. Track 4, The Sharpest Lives is the best song on the album i think.

nope. the scene got big AROUND them.

there was not a band that was mainstream like them.

there were alot of smaller bands at the time like From First To Last who were doing kinda similar stuff, but it wasnt in a style that could go mainstream.

mcr did not sell out, they polished up their original sound and ended up with radio friendly hot topic rock.

the end.

so, what you are aaying is that anything can be emo.

emo-country

emo-rap.

fuck that.

emo is dashboard, sunny day real estate, brighteyes.

that kind of shit.

its closer to neo-folk with some post-punk stuff than screaming music.

ok. so. i think you are the smartest person in this thread.

the first cd was a piece of shit compared to the second.

and if you have listened to the whole 2nd cd you would no that its only DIFFERENT BECAUSE IT IS BETTER.

they arent even emo. they are closer to punk, maybe some screamo, BUT NOT EMO.

shit, sunny day real estate was emo, not MCR.

Assuming this isnt sarcasm I appreciate that. I agree with you and I'm glad at least one person didnt jump on the "they sold out because they got good" bandwagon.

I had this argument the other day with someone else. MCR is not even close to emo. Screamo? Maybe, they're edging away from that as well. If you really wanted to shit on MCR i would see a more valid argument in saying they were goth than saying they're emo. Nevertheless disliking them is like disliking MSP, it's a bandwagon thing to do and I assume 90% of the people on here havent listened to any of their albums at all. For those of you who have, you should be able to recognize at least their progression as musicians, even if you don't like their music.

So they sold out? exactly, "polishing up your sound" so your radio friendly and get sold in hot topic is probably selling out i think

I dont like them because its a bandwaggon thing. I dont like them because they were one of my favorite bands when they first came out. Their first cd was amazing, it was on the few orignal cd's i found with a unique sound and sick recording sound. I dislike them because their second cd was one of the cd's i was looking forward to comming out the most and i picked it up the day it came out and what a piece of shit. there were 2 or 3 songs i liked. Then they started playing on mtv, got popier, and then i saw them again after 2 or 3 shows and gerad is a bitch. he was saying shit like he was tough in the beggining and towards the end of the show he slipped or tripped on the cord, basically cried and walked off stage. This is why this band has none of my respect, also they kicked their drummer out after the first cd. In conclusion i dont like this band because they now blow and enjoy taking it up the ass.

The end....

I use to like them more before they got huge, now I'm not for them as much. What really sticks them out thought is there guitarist Ray Torro, usually I find emo music so fucking boring and that's why I don't listen to it, but Ray has some kick ass riffs and solo espeically in Black Parade, and they explore musical more genres in the new album. New music is missing guitar solos, its like the climax of the song. Even though they can be called "emo" they are still a decent rock band.

I don't like this kind of music usually but 'Welcome to the Black Parade' is a good track
