Bring Back the Old Video Section!

you can stilll watch the old one....you still have the option its on the quick links bar on the left once you are in the vid section
 
I give them alot of props for trying and taking the time to reconstruct the video section but...yea it sucks.
 
Could we get some constructive criticism here instead of just rampant bitching please?

Look, we've had the new section in beta for MONTHS and took your feedback to come up with what we have.

Down the road one day we're only going to have one video section, so if you could please give a bit more detail than "it sucks" we can work to fix it to your needs.

Also, if people do like it, speak up or we end up only listening to the haters.

 
i think the beta was perfect, it had a tiny pic, the discrition, everythingw as easy to access. thats what i would make permant.

and to all the clowns who are saying theres no top rated. look on the fucking left side, theres links back to the old vid section, adn for top rated, ect...
 
i think that we should just stick with the old one. my reasons for this are that it just had everything and it worked perfectly. i dont see any reason for it to change to flash IMO. then it just looks like youtube and looses quality.
 
the old one is still there. its just on the side and you have to click to get to it. The new one is purely a business descision and you have to respect that. This site wouldn't be around with adverstisements and you need to respect the fact they need money to run the site and everything it provides to us. Now would you rather have an yearly charge or an extra click to get back to the old video section? They need to make money, its business.
 
it is the equivalent of when facebook changed their structure, it SUCKS, what are you thinking NS owners, come on your way better than that, it needed no change, but you changed it
 
so theres no way you can keep the origional version?

I know the ads arnt going away, but a cut down on it, maybe every three times you watch a vid it can pop up.
 
We will keep the original version around for as long as it takes us to make the new version something that people like. Maybe we'll leave it forever... really depends on the usage of the new section and how good we can really make it.

Starting on March 1st, we're going to be implementing a new frequency capping system, which should make it so that you only see one ad every 5-10 minutes or so. That way, if you're watching a bunch of shorter vids you won't be assaulted.

Also, we're going to change the layout of the video view page so the player is much bigger, we can go to widescreen, and the comments will be much closer to the video in question.

After we've dialed in that page, we'll work on the gallery listing page. I'm sure there is a happy medium we can come to that will please everyone.

The one thing that will go away is the ability to embed foreign video sites. No more vimeo/youtube/etc. You can still add those to blog posts, profile, etc, but just not into our video section. This was a hard decision, but we must take it for the sake of our business. We won't do this until our video system is good enough, but it would help if you guys use at least the video uploader to give us feedback.

So again, we'll keep the old system around as long as we need to... which possibly could be forever but we'd prefer to fix the new one so that we only have one set of pages to maintain.

 
i recenttly made a thread in site discussion that was all constructive criticism about why i didnt like it and what needed to change if it was going to work this way... but that thread for some reason got deleted :(... i just wanted to help and explain my opinion about it all.
 
Sorry about that... we had a ton of them pop up and we wanted to guide the discussion into one thread.

I un-deleted your thread and addressed all of your concerns.
