Anyone think OP should sponsor the return of JOSS because they brought it back up and made everyone miss the awesomeness that was JOSS.

Is Jon still focusing on Sochi? Haven't checked his blog for a few months. Still, as far as i know, he has a pretty sweet sponsor deal going on with betsafe. I bet they could afford to make JOSS happen.

It doesn't even necessarily need to be JOSS. I would be stoked If there could just be a contest with a superpark like that and that same week long edit format. JOSS probably won't happen again but it would be sick if Sammy or Tanner had their own kind of JOSS instead of or in addition to their own invitationals.
 
I absolutely agree it was by far the best competition to represent what the new school ski scene is about..

from what I heard Jon stopped doing JOSS because a lot of the pros were assholes to him and breaking the rules (probably Dumont) and that he was finished dumping tons of time and energy into an event when he was shown such disrespect

Definitely agree, but still want to see huge shit on a huge jump. Not a comp, just a crazy sesh where everyone tries to 1up eachother.
 
i am pretty sure almost every member on the site would LOVE to see JOSS come back for one huge reason: they do not pay for it.

i miss JOSS dearly as well, however i believe jon takes big losses out of his own pockets for the competition, as do the athletes (somebody has to pay for transportation/accommodation). combine that with the fact that athletes were being assholes to jon (team america releasing their video prematurely) and shitty weather threatening the entire competition, and it's not hard to see why jon just doesn't want to take on the project anymore.

hopefully he'll find it in him to put on another few JOSSs. produces some of the best skiing with the best coverage.
 
Such a sick comp!! But Jon is so focused on slalom and olympics that I don't think he would be bothered putting all that time and effort into a free skiing comp. Even JOI last year was more about the gates than the jump. Pity, some of the best edits around came out of JOSS.

Hell yeah, bring it back! So many legendary edits came from JOSS and supplied me with hours of entertainment. Including this gem.

I'm pretty sure Jon isn't losing any money on this at all, but I could be wrong. Yes, athletes and filmers do have to pay for their own transportation which is pricey but it was worth every penny.
