Brighton's park

If you want park, go to park city. Brighton has some sick jibs but their jumps suck.

jumps suck, including those onto the jibs. I saw a 5 foot tall box with a 1 foot jump onto it. It's a OK park, and sometimes things are fun, but for the most part it's pretty lame.

Bahaha yeah, they have that HUGE box, and that like 1 foot jump onto it. I saw some skiers hit it (tight pants, maybe you know them?) and they had to take so much speed into it they would just hit the last 5ft of the 20ft box. They also like to just put flat surfaces next to urban set up rails, which was fun tho. By the end of the day there is the worst snowboard ruts tho, which sucks you have to go one ski in one ski out, or both in, or both out, all of which suck.

Yea, it's crazy. The snowboarder ruts suck.... about as much as the park crew. I swear they don't even try. I guess its cause it's a snowbaorder mountain. The flat surfaces onto urban style  isn't horrible... except for me because I am really bad at urban style setups haha

yeah their jumps to rails suck. i didnt even bother hitting rails when i was there. i was very dissapointed with brightons park.

their urban rails are fun and that longass box and the coaster box.

some of its just rediculous though like that 1 foot jump onto the 5 foot tall box

ok listen to me. fuck brightion you will ski it for like 2 hours maby and be stoked then allusoden it will suck taint. jumps to small and jibs to gay. go to pc it is good in the morning so gett up there early and go to kings. pick sucks and jonseys it good to. sorry for spelling

Um sorry to break this to you but you don't ski Brighton for their damn park...you ski it for the fucking terrain. For example, ski the forest right underneath the Crest Express, when it has dumped powder that area is soo much fun. Or ski the damn backcountry, that's if you can even carve a turn outside of the park, I'd suggest Pioneer Ridge and Pioneer Canyon (backside of course).

If your justification for heading out west is to ski park there are some serious flaws in your ideaology of "skiing" but to each of his own...have fun either way.

I knew someone was going to be stupid enough to post something like this.

Did you read the thread? or think about the title? dude, it's spring. Snow isn't dumping. there is no powder, it's not really worth it skiing the other in-bounds terrain. He posted because he was going ot be sking here 5 ddays from now, and wanted to know what the park is going to be like because it's spring.

Not only that, but you don't just go ski the backcountry here. Shit's dangerous. If you don't have knowlege, you are jsut asking to get yourself into trouble. I don't know you, but based on what you recommended to him, it doesn't seem like you should be giving advice about backcountry.

Don't go bashing on him because he asked how the park was. Newsflash... this is Newschoolers. Lots of kids here enjoy skiing parks.

Granted true its spring but to merely head out west just for a park is a rather silly endeavor. And besides just because there hasen't been snow the in-bound terrain is still fun and at time challenging.

Now in regards to the backcountry ordeal it's merely a suggestion and anyone with commen sense will know not to venture past the gates unless you have a receiver, a shovel and a game plan of some sort (keeping in mind these are the bare minimums). Come on did you really think I would just tell the kid to go out into backcountry and have fun? I took in the consideration that the skiier isn't a dumbass and can utilize his brain.

And finally, I know the backcountry is dangerous but I'm "qualified" to venture past the gates. I've taken Level 1 and 2 avalanche courses so I think I have a clue on what I'm doing. In addition, I always hike with a receiver, probe, shovel, radio and a partner. Trust me I'm know a good portion of Brighton's backcountry to give pointers...I've boot packed Pioneer Ridge, Pioneer Peak, Mt. Tuscarora, Mt. Wolverine and skiied down all of them both backside and frontside.

But whatever, this is just a miss understanding and no need to bash other's opinion when you really don't see the full spectrum of the post...

Whoops messed up the last sentence its suppose to mean lets not bash each other we all have different ways at interprating things and therefore we can't always see the full spectrum of things...

IDK, B*RIGHT*ON's terrain actually aint all that good in my opinion. Yeah, they have good backcountry gates, but who doesn't these days. The only lift worth mentioning there is Milicent, cuz everything else is too flat. Oh, and I can't stand the high school scene there with East Side Sandy Rich Boy faggots rolling around everywhere in their fag bags.[/endrant]

Brightons park is not "sick" its fun, but their jumps were absolutely horrible. They def had a couple sick jibs, their sbox is real fun. But when 1/3 of the jibs have a jump that is about 2-3 ft too short its shitty because you have to haul ass into it just to hit the end.

well i think that if a park is fun, then wouldnt that be sick to you? or are u one of those kids that thinks skiing isnt about fun, its about being sponsored and going pro to make money?

I think we have different terms/views. A "sick" park is like keystone, breck, park city, mammoth, parks that are HUGE and have soooo many features that all perfectly set up. Now, yes a sick park is a fun park, but a fun park isn't always a sick park. Like i said before, they have a lot of pretty sick jibs, but their jumps suck and the set up/lay out of the park sucks too. Believe me, i have no expectations of becoming pro and making money from skiing.

oh come on now trevous the back country isnt to dangerous i wonderd through it and i didnt get lost or die

brightons park is sooooo much fun to me. its sick. Its not that bad. The jumps onto rails have been sikter lately not bad at all. SO FUN. bertha isnt bad either.

well i agree that big parks with good features and everything are indeed sick, but i disagree that you dont think a fun park isnt necessarily sick. i went to park city only one day when i was in utah, the park was decent, but the vibe of everyone was just really shitty. i really didnt have that much fun there. i was at brighton with my brother who snowboards most of the days, and i just had an overall better expierence there. theres jibs all over the place, all the rails are super fun if you arent too scared to actually have to try to get onto a rail, and everyone is really cool. i dont know, if you actually enjoy skiing and having fun i would say go to brighton. in my mind, park city isnt all its made out to be except for jumps. but i would rather pay to have fun, then to get watched and judged from all the kids at pc

Yeah, i guess im more used to park city, ive spent a couple spring breaks there, and a few other random day. And i did try every rail, and did every rail (minus the 5ft tall box with the 1ft tall jump) i'm just saying, when you hit a rail, its nice to have the feeling you aren't going to catch your tip on the front of it. And i had a lot of fun at brighton too, it was slushy and warm, seemed like a very big snowboarding vibe there, but it was still chill. Every time i have been to park city the jumps and jibs just amaze me. But like i said, we use terms differently, and I wouldn't consider brightons park "sick" but it was def really fun and a lot better than what i have here in montana.

yea ted is a sick rider. seen all those videos and loved them all. cant wait for the naptime video. eddie grams is so good at editing and all the naptime rides are amazing also

Obviously you've never skied Brighton. Half of the features aren't even hittable. The 5 foot tall box literally have a 1 foot tall kicker. the urban set up things are fun, but those are the only ones you can hit. If they build a kicker in front of the rail it's either a 3 foot impossible ollie, or so close you just run into the rail.

quit your bitching dick brigtons setups are crisp its ahbbviosly just cause you suck that you cant urlacker onto them

actually i have skied brighton, and there was only one box that i couldnt get onto because of the jump. and it was next to a more fun box anyways...

well for whoever started this thread, if you want to have fun, go to brighton. if you want to get judged and watched and feel like you have to be pro to ski there go to pc.

Well you have to go down little cottonwood then up big cottonwood, but i skied snowbird one day then night skied at brighton, id say its a 30-40min drive.

I feel I get judged soooo much more at everywhere else but pc...but thats probably cause I know a lot of peeps at pc
