Heading to brighton in february. Mainly looking to ski pow (I'm from NH). Wondering if ill be wasting my time looking for pow in brighton, how the park scene is (heard it was bad), and anything else I should know. My pass gives me 10 free tickets to brighton, but I am willing to drop some cash for a couple days elsewhere.

brighton has unbelieveable powder. You arent going to get the steep and huge open bowls and long runs that snowbird/alta has, but you will have less crowds tons of cliffs, fun pillows, and amazing backcountry access (which I dont suggest you do without beacon, shovel, probe, partner, some kind of experience.)

While the park sucks compared to PC/ Canyons, it is still a really fun park... just dont expect to hit any jumps. They have some fun/creative/strange rail set ups usuallly.

pretty much what chris said...

looks like their park is a bit better this year, got a bunch of new rails. don't expect to be seeing any jumps that are worth hitting. but all their jibs are reallllyyyy fun.

although look out for all the gypsies and magoombas. the brighton park is their natural habitat!

Brighton has super legit pow so you don't really need to spend money on tickets to other places for pow unless you really want to mix it up. On the days with the least snow head to park city for park if you have a car, and the canyons is probably my favorite mountain for skiing park and pow in the same day, although if it's a legit pow day you wont be clearing the jumps too well. Also wax your skis if you go to the canyons, lots of flat run-outs.

so true. My trip started yesterday, i got a pass in brighton, and i love it so much. We hike 20 minutes for the backcountry, and it have'nt snowed since 1 week, and we still did a lot of powder, hude cliff, and nothing is tracked (I don't know why). The park is so fun, there is no jumps yet, but a run with 20 rails hit at least. Brighton is a good choice for sure, you WILL NOT regret!!

im up there everyday, but there park this year is much better mostly jibs though no jumps kinda shitty oh well haha, but the pow there is excellent if you know where to go like ride outside boundry on great western the trees are amazing, nice pillows/cliffs but i would definatly check out solitude on pow days as well nobody there fresh tracks at like 2 pm ha

if only we could ever get a pow day shitty snow season

Brighton is the Jam, Pow, and a really fun Park.

As for jumps, by february there will be a couple jumps up. The only reason we don't have them yet is because we haven't got enough snow to make jumps.

i heard Brighton was involved in a lawsuit... so no jumps except for maybe the 801 435 comp??? anybody confirm this??

im not aware of the lawsuit but 801 v 435 needs jumps to be a true slopestyle comp other wise its like a long rail jam

SURFACE is advertising a slopestyle comp

so idk

brighton has been involved with this law suit for like 4 years now and nothing has happened we have had jumps every year and we are stating to get them up now that it has snowed some, yo hit me up when you are going to go riding im up there everyday, might be going to mammoth though

brighton is all urban. which is mad fun. you get more technical for sure.

powder is unreal there. im stoked to go up after this huge storm sittin on top of the mountains.

but this is my first year at brighton and im not bummed. park is so different then the canyons, but definitely progressive.

if you can hit rails at brighton you can hit them anywhere.

Are they going to have jumps or not? They flattened all take offs from the Gatorade jam thing.

yea cause some dumbass ducked the ropes the day before the comp and landed in the flats and got fucked up i guess, so they had to take them down i am somewhat pissed. i believe

yea pretty much it was a guy who went of a man made feature not marked and broke his back doing a backflip so sewed us i am way pissed about it. also haha

They had jumps for GFFT, but then tore them down. heard from a gypsy snowboard park member that they will not exist this year. get out and slay some fun rails, plenty of natural trannys and hidden(hint) pow around brighton, just wear protection ;)

Brighton has some fun cliff bands and pillows, but I'm not into traversing a half mile, skiing a single cliff band, and traversing out.
It does for sure have some fun hits, and it doesn't get skied out AS fast, but I prefer bigger runs and bigger terrain up little cottonwood (alta).
As for park, it sucks. Go to The Canyons or PC if you want park.

if by "AS" fast, you mean a couple of days (weeks in some spots) compared to "powder hour" up LCC.. than yes, i agree. :P
